Love Room are taking over Bar Takk this RSD!
Love Room is an intimate vinyl-focused night that has hosted parties in Sheffield for just over a year. During this time, it has welcomed Wallace, Chris Duckenfield, and Saint Lukez to some of Sheffield’s best venues. Its aim is to create a raw, interesting, and comforting environment that people feel welcome and able to express themselves freely in.
Love Room’s nights always focus on a number of genres, but the party is also heavily rooted in that deep, stripped back house and minimal sound that can feel left behind in Sheffield. Love Room’s founders have spent many hours travelling and digging through record shops, inspired by raving the night before, where they have found some amazing records and wonderful nights that undoubtedly influence Love Room.
On Saturday, they’re showcasing all of this in Hagglers Corner, with rhythms powered by the fierce Ben Marks, one of Sheffield’s music stalwarts, on a Funktion One sound system. Special guest MELK will be joining them behind the decks!

A BOY CALLED GEORGE
A Boy Called George is both co-owner and resident of Love Room. George believes that the best nights happen when the people, sound, and music are all in total sync. He plays based on feeling rather than genre, constantly trying to ascertain the energy in the room: an approach that has seen him support a range of high calibre artists. Love Room aims to share this same philosophy, creating a space for people to feel comfortable and fully themselves.
MELK
From silly wafters to high-energy heaters, MELK is all about those sexy basslines and zero attitude. The only thing they take seriously is keeping the dancefloor locked from start to finish.
OLIVER CUBBIN
A lover of music, Oliver Cubbin’s approach to DJing is constantly evolving and always eclectic. His record collection spans across genres, and his sets focus on vibe rather than beats per minute. Co-founder and resident DJ of Love Room, he wants to help cultivate the already dynamic music scene in Sheffield. Influenced by a variety of musicians, he also finds inspiration outside of music in philosophy, history, culture, and everyday life.

On Friday we welcome @chris_duckenfield a man who, alongside DJing internationally, was resident at the imitable @hopeworkssheffield for years- a venue which helped put Sheffield on the map of forward thinking, risk taking, underground electronic music. Alongside other alias’ Chris notably formed, with Richard Brown, Swag. Under this moniker they released EPs and an album on Junior Boys Own. With a combination of other labels under his belt, Chris’ DJ sets have always been fresh, innovative and creative.
We’re super excited to hear those deep, soulful wonky sounds, for 2 hours till close, tuned to perfection by @bosunsound .

Tomorrow we host Wallace for our biggest party yet. Here he is stood at an institute of music, and with that in mind this is what we stand for:
‘In the current climate of homogenised culture centred around a moth eaten tech house sound we stand for something different.
Recently, we have been inspired by some great moments. The type of moments that really hit your core and tell you something meaningful, even if they’re impossible to articulate. For us, this feeling always comes from a serious venue, the music and the people.
Forget the ubiquitous egocentric flashes of an I phone camera. Forget the hardest and fastest music. Forget being packed into a warehouse like a Nike Tech sardine. We can do better.
Love Room aims to challenge this status quo. Seeing others stand for something has given us courage to do so too.
Deconstructing things, we’ve gone back to the basics: a meticulously curated line up with real production and a focus on the people. A sound that is free form, taking whatever course the night directs. House, techno, disco, funk. A focus on feeling and vibe, not speed.
It’s always about those moments, creating them is what we’re trying to do.‘

After a short break we’re back and hosting a party in Liverpool.
On the docks (near Everton’s new stadium) we’re taking over @merakiliverpool for an afternoon and evening of house, techno, disco and reggae.
This one’s outside in the sun and we’ve curated a lineup with eclectic music.
@roomtoo_ has been djing in and around Liverpool for years and is part of @glassliverpool who have hosted some serious parties down the years.
Spinn O’Leary has been part of Love Room since the beginning and will be showcasing his record collection spanning across disco and reggae.
Local upcoming talent Arran and saf will be bringing some fresh ability to the decks.
Residents @olivercubbin and @gerard.casterton will close the night with some stomping house and techno. The records are primed.

This Friday we welcome @chris_duckenfield to @panke_social who will rock the dance floor with everything from house, disco and techno.
Chris has played internationally. Here he is playing music at a boat party in Croatia and this Balearic atmosphere may be recreated as the sun comes up through the clubs windows in the early hours.
Local upcoming Sheffield talent will also be playing to support Chris. So come join us, hear some good music and dance.
