Armémuseum Testsalong Testsalongen is a temporary platform that invites the museum and its visitors to explore what the Army Museum of the future could be. The proposal builds on the strengths of the Museum’s building, collections, and experimental programme, with the aim of activating the entrance floor and broadening the museum’s audience. Love Di Marco & Grip + Torarp proposed a light framework that acts as a temporary buffer between the building and its content. Wrapping the renovated building in a thin layer of material, reused from previous exhibitions, the space is at once protected and transformed into a continous construction site that invites participation and initiates new conversations between visitors, the museum, and its collections. Reused sheet materials, metal screens and fragments from previous exhibitions form a flexible grid of objects and content, bound together by a custom connector. Leftover material is temporarily bundled together to provide seating, workshop tables, and signage, all framed by a delicate sprinkler curtain that gently wraps the ruin that is the museum. Rather than presenting a linear narrative the space becomes an open grid where every visit is unique whether you pass through in a minute, take part for an hour, or stay for the whole day. Magasin 7 - where harbour meets city, and infrastructure becomes architecture. Our proposal for Varberg builds on the site’s industrial heritage, transforming it through minimal intervention. Existing buildings are reused, new structures are added, and the area is opened early to the public through workplaces, civic spaces, and new meeting points. At its core is the relationship between technology and people - between the logic of the working harbour and the future life of the city. PRANZO is a long, leisurely Italian lunch where friends and friends of friends gather. We set the table and fill it with food, wine, and good company. A few times a year, we transform a vacant space in the city. Benvenuti. Johan Torarp & Love Di Marco Thanks to @kontrarsthlm & @moa_alsen Photographs @ebbabastmark & @johzach 3d scan drawing @johzach

Competition proposal: Extension of Svedala Town Hall – part of the city’s future Building on what already exists, the design carries forward the original 1964 architecture in rhythm, materials, and detailing — now opened up with public spaces, clear sightlines, and a stronger connection to the park. Reused brick, green pathways, and a glazed link between old and new connect history with the future. Former office areas become shared spaces for both employees and citizens. UNDER CONSTRUCTION: THE MUSEUM AS PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE CLIMATE AS A STRUCTURE. We see climate layers—not form—as the core organising principle of our design. A museum that is to last for a long time should not be over-programmed into total climate control. It can host a gradient of atmospheres: from conditioned collection rooms to a passively heated public gallery, a subterreanean garden and a large, open balcony wrapping the built perimeter. Each of these climates offers unique possibilities for the productive merger of exhibition-making and public life. With a multitude of climates and gradients, from enclosures for precious artefacts to a truly public forums, from a new horizontal datum in the city, to a place where Trøndelags biodiversity can take root, Under Construction favours multitude over the singular, the extrovert over the exclusive. If the museum is to be democratic, it must risk itself. It must be able to host contradiction, ambiguity, dissonance. UNDER CONSTRUCTION: THE MUSEUM AS PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE EXTRUDE AND EXCAVATE THE EXISTING. A clear economic logic underpins the project, the goal is maximum spatial generosity through minimum material intervention. Throughout the project, the structure of the existing garage remains as grid that structures both the museum itself and the public activities that unfold within and around it. It is complemented by four new vertical cores, generously dimensioned for both current and future use, yet-unknown technical demands and even possible extension and addition of floor slabs. @lovedimarco @griptorarp @max.lindgren.arkitektkontor @sebastien_berthier_ #architecture #architecturaldesign #museumdesign #culturalarchitecture #museumarchitecture #culturalcenter #publicarchitecture #Trondheim

UNDER CONSTRUCTION: THE MUSEUM AS PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE Trondheim does not need a new museum object. It needs a social condenser, a piece of civic infrastructure capable of absorbing the city’s existing cultural, civic and botanical life into a new node and focal point. Under Construction sees the museum not as a symbolic end point, but as an infrastructural beginning, operating on three main scales: the scale of the citizen, the scale of the collections and the scale of the landscape and broader city. The gradual transformation from parking to a museum, a public platform and a garden is a legible yet open-ended form and system, adaptable over time. It is less a building, more a cultural ecosystem—a place where artistic production, exhibition, debate and public life coexist like a miniature, condensed part of the city itself. Skärvor är en plats för diskussion och en utställning om landsbygdens potential och roll i en hållbar omställning. Benedikte Esperi är en svensk performancekonstnär, koreograf och curator med en praktik som rör sig mellan dans, performance och konstfilm.
