Stoney 100 Ultramarathon
I’m still trying to process everything that happened, but here it goes.
Even though I came into this race feeling healthy and fresh, I began struggling around mile 20 because I was more fatigued than usual. By mile 35, my left Achilles became severely inflamed and incredibly painful. Around mile 50, I got chafed in one of the worst areas you can think of. My right shoulder also started hurting, but that was expected. Overall, I endured an enormous amount of physical pain that I couldn’t have imagined beforehand.
What I kept telling myself? Pain is just an emotion. That’s all it is. You can either succumb to it and let it control you, or you can choose to ignore it and keep going. And that’s what I did.
But that’s not the reason I was able to finish.
None of this would have been possible without my crew and pacers. I knew coming into this race that I would have help, however I didn’t realize how many people would show up to support me, or the lengths they would go to make sure I had everything I needed to keep moving forward.
From refilling my hydration bottles, bringing me food, helping me sit down and stand back up, covering me with blankets while I was shivering, changing my socks and shoes, praying with me, and running by my side for far longer than they otherwise would have. Every single one of you carried me through this race.
I came into this race with friends, and I left with brothers and sisters. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope I can one day repay you.

Also, special thanks to everyone that supported me leading up to this race, whether it was through donations or reaching out with encouraging and kind words.
@washedupcoffeeclub for staying at the track day and night to support all of the runners, and
@ethos_ac for showing up in the morning and keeping the energy and vibes high. You make the Charleston community truly special.
