Once upon a time, a broke backpacker with a lot of dreams landed in Bali. One of those dreams was the @lost.villa
When I arrived in Bali in 2015, I immediately fell in love with this island. It felt like everything I ever wanted from a home. It was sunny, tropical, adventurous, had amazing people who actually LIVED but also had a mission in life. And it was wildly affordable compared to life in Vancouver.
But my time on the island was limited. I had a corporate job to fly home to in Canada and after several months of travel, I could barely even afford my flight back. As my plane landed on my cold and rainy side of the planet, I dreamed someday I would be back to that tropical paradise of Bali.
Fortunately, I would soon discover the power of a dream.
2016 - I quit my job and chased my dream to make a living online
2017 - I started making money and moved to the place that made me happiest! I rented my first villa in Bali
2019 - I bought my first ever home (of course in Bali)
Fast forward a few years, risks, decisions, failures and successes later… well that chapter has yet to be written.

When you make excuses long enough, your dreams and ambitions become nothing more than a wasted wish. The problem is, life is far too short to push our dreams to tomorrow but it’s more than long enough to be filled with regret if we don’t take action.
Picking up that camera for the first time was HARD. I was terrified of what others would think and so I almost told myself, maybe next year. I had little to no money so I almost told myself, maybe when I’m more stable. I had 110 reasons why tomorrow felt like a safer decision. If I had waited, I would not be here today. I would have NEVER made that first video, posted that first photo, launched that first product and I would have never built my dream life.
Money, time, and everything else in between are not reasons to delay your dreams - they are excuses.
If your dream is to make a living with a camera, I know every reason you feel “tomorrow” is better because my mind told me the same thing 1000 times.
Parents, friends, and even yourself will tell you why you should not and why you cannot but ask yourself this, do these people live a life you wish to live yourself?
If you live trying to conform to others, you will end up like everyone else. If you’re tired of compromising, stop saying tomorrow and start saying TODAY.
There has never been a better time to pick up that camera and learn a skill that allows you to earn money remotely. There has never been a bigger audience just waiting to hear your story. And there has never been an easier time to embark on this journey with thousands of like-minded DOers.

There is a new way to fly. A drone that sees everything in 360 and brings you into the cockpit with an immersive headset. I’ve been flying @antigravity_global across 8 countries and I have put this light weight drone to the test. I’d describe it as marrying a traditional drone with an FPV drone. The shots you get are immersive and create an epic sense of scale. The flying experience is surprisingly natural and totally dialed in. It lets me get into the action in ways I’ve never done before. Our Bali bedroom at @lost.villa 🌿
This jungle room connects you to the sound of 7 waterfalls, the view of endless green and the calm of the marble suite. But maybe the best part is that bathtub. It does the impossible curving a piece of stone into a tub.

Have you ever had the urge to just get up and drive? To go and explore a side of the world you barely understood and even feared? Well.. I just bought a couple motorbikes and I’m about to drive across Africa with one of my best friends. @camvaughne and I have 6 countries, around 12,500 kilometers, and about 45 days set aside to get lost in Africa, to push ourselves to the limits, and to create stories to share with our future grandkids.
Months of planning and we’re almost there. The journey is about to begin. Just waiting on our motorbike bags to be let in by South African customs… Wish us luck.
