Diabla Blanca music video: scene 5 🩵 The second verse is the “siren scene” - a cautionary tale in which the victim of seduction meets a sinister fate. I didn’t want to go full mermaid cheesiness, so I gave the look a high-fashion upgrade ✨ How do you film a rocky oceanfront scene when you’re in a landlocked state? With a bit of 🌈 imagination 🌈 I wanted to capture the eery, foggy, waves-crashing-against-rocks vibe that’s classic in pirate films when they encounter a mysterious shore with a shrouded figure singing a beautiful and haunting melody - a siren, of course. How we did it: the “waves” were made of Mylar with two people shaking them from both ends, a blue backlight and spotlights for a silhouette-to-reveal effect, two fog machines and a fan created the misty wind, and the rocks were made by me with the front ones being cardboard, packing paper, spray glue, and spray paint, and the large one being wooden blocks, blankets, and a textured backdrop. Diabla Blanca music video: scene 4 🤍 You can’t tell from my face, but I was so happy that I got to check this spinning thingy off my bucket list 😂🔥 at first, I tried to manually rotate for the shot but luckily the studio had a gadget for a smoother movement! If you look closely, you’ll see my eyes are two different colors: the right one is my natural blue, and the left is a devilish red. The symbolism: in Latin, left is “sinister” which also means evil, so to lean into the theme, I wanted to show a transformation from my real eye color (which just so happens to be blue, a color that’s spiritually associated with being heavenly) to an evil one - without special effects. The extremely slow carnival ride experience was just a bonus 🤪 P.S. pls ignore the shoes; my feet were tired ok??
