It’s been a busy few weeks at Lost Dog HQ, but today is one of those brilliant and rare days where we have two shows performing on the same day!
Ruination returns to the stage at @les_salins_martigues and Juliet & Romeo is in Vancouver at @thecultch
Speaking of Vancouver…. In 2019, Heather Redfern saw Juliet & Romeo at the Edinburgh Festival and knew immediately that she wanted the show for her beautiful historic theatre in Vancouver. As it happened Laura Colby from Elsie Management also saw the show that summer and knew that she wanted to represent the work of Lost Dog in North America. Tonight, 7 years, a pandemic and many many hours of planning and fundraising later Juliet & Romeo opens at The Cultch in Vancouver. So heres to perseverence and heres to @elsiemgmt , the teams at @centerinthesquare , @thecultch , @porttheatrenanaimo and @thenacc as well as our brilliant cultural adventurers and colleages @srookwilliams , @soleneweinachterdance , @johnkendall88 and @emilyterndrup and everyone who will bring the show alive tonight.

A humorous and heartfelt duet about love, loss and longevity, @lostdogdance explores what the star-crossed lovers' lives would look like in their 40s.
“I wanted them to be older, to have a child, and to have hit a moment in their relationship where something has to give,” Duke says. “It is the moment, I think, when couples break up or they renegotiate the terms of the relationship—the terms they unwittingly agreed to in the early phases of their love.”
