The linenfold technique—carving timber to resemble draped fabric—emerged in the late medieval period, when linen was rare and timber abundant. Today, that hierarchy is reversed. This chair, carved from reclaimed Oregon, uses an age-old method to frame timber as a precious and finite resource.
