Bamboo on the Borderlines
Had an incredible week with @zanlelouw documenting The Bamboo Orphanage School situated in Thailand and on the border of Myanmar. The region is considered a crisis zone with many displaced people fleeing from Myanmar and finding refuge in Bong Ti, Kanchanaburi.
The school is spearheaded by the inexhaustible “Momo Cat” who hails from NZ and has lived there for over 25 years now. She’s crazy cool granny vibes… and also drives an ambulance in her spare time amongst other things.
The most rewarding experience was getting a chance to meet some real cool kids on our little week there. All who had so much lived experience even at a young age. You’ll see more of them soon! So much meaning and purpose here.

We won Grand National Best Performer. Sure @kalyani_swag_lord was the performer, but really, it was @los_potato 's marrionetting from the keyboard. 🤣

Also, most of you would have been aware of already, but if you havent, my composers were attacked after the Regional Finals and are dealing with the aftermath of that, both physically and emotionally. Our film is a coming-of-age tale following a young boy tasked with delivering a sack of rice to his family's restaurant. We have been fortunate enough to receive funding through NZFC's Fresh Shorts programme, which has allowed us to take steps towards making this film come to life. However, we need your support to lift our vision off the ground.
