My heart is FULL (and this post is LONG!)! ❤️
26.2 miles flew by as I—the most reluctant of marathoners—ran, jogged, strolled, danced, kissed, and hugged my way through my favorite city on the planet. 🏃♀️
@nycmarathon
NYC did not disappoint. And neither did my INCREDIBLE family and friends:
@nickbarnhorst @debrubin511 @deasox @gabcb77 @sequinspandex @rsgerstung @tiawilliamswrites @missinfo @sirlennox @jwmaleri @sj_shelton @fifival @amy_hayden @zoeraec @whosyourjockey @drjeremybrauer @theaudiocreative @mmmendmade @dan.aronskind @sarahmfine @ryalynn.carter @bettinamurray @ashan @ckhartshorn @katiemangurian #Sami #CoachCraig #Sandy and so many more! Can’t possibly thank you enough for being there with hugs and laughs and love (and amazing MERCH—you know who you are!)
The spirit of the marathon is all about cheering each other on. Finding people in a crowd at their weakest, or their strongest, or their most vulnerable, and willing them forward with your support and love. No matter their age or their size or their race or their beliefs. Seeing them, saying their names, connecting with them on the most basic level, and wanting them to succeed. Watching people fight through physical pain you can see and emotional pain you can’t. Lifting them up with every clap, every cheer, every “You got this!”. I hope to carry that energy with me as long as I can, and I hope you will too. ☺️🤝❤️
Huge thanks to my
@goodmorningamerica fam, specifically
@sswinkgma for believing I could do it;
@braddeck for putting up with me (no easy feat!), and guiding this process with humor and vision; and
@yeogrrl for taking such great care of me, this piece, and really capturing what it means to train for/run a marathon.
Congrats to ALL my fellow marathoners,
@ree232 @lilianao1 @__katieking @dranatebrauer @jakearonskind @rainyfarrell @megansearfoss #janainorman, SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS! We did it! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
