Los Angeles, CA, 2080
The world no longer turns in silence — it groans.
Coastlines swallowed by rising seas.
Cities buried in sandstorms or drowned beneath acid rains.
Forests are skeletal, rivers run dry like forgotten veins.
By 2080, Earth was no longer a home.
It was a battlefield of heat, hunger, and heartbreak.
Entire nations had dissolved into caravans of the displaced.
Water was more valuable than gold. Humanity had turned on
itself, clawing for survival.
In this setting, two people meet each other. Both haven’t seen a person in weeks. The last
encounters they had were people fighting them for their food.
They stand, frozen. Words feel like artifacts — too heavy, too
rare. All types of different hormones rising up - adrenaline,
oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin. A conversation wasn’t possible,
but a shared dance.
Their feet crush cinders. Around them, ruins whisper of what
was lost. But in their eyes, something burns that the sky has
long forgotten.
When the world was fire and sorrow, they danced.
Not for survival.
Not for memory.
But because in that fleeting moment,
Joy still mattered.
