Soooooo buzzing that I’ve been named one of the Top 50 UK Wedding Photographers for 2026!!!!! Still in shock, delighted, over the moon, dancing around the house! Thank you @professional_photo_mag @stylecloud.co I’ve never really felt like I ā€œfitā€ neatly into the wedding industry. I’ve always done things my own way. A love of film photography, old movies, vintage clothes, music, art, texture, mood, romance plus a bit of chaos, and a lot of heart. I didn’t come up through a traditional path, and I’ve never tried to make work that looks like everyone else’s. I just followed what felt true to me and somehow along the way found the most wonderful couples who got it. One of my biggest values as a photographer has always been this: I want my couples to feel celebrated, safe, and comfortable enough to be vulnerable in front of my camera. You don’t need to perform. You don’t need to pose perfectly. You get to just be yourselves. From learning photography in the darkroom at high school, to shooting my first wedding back in 2009, to falling back in love with film and building a business around story, feeling and connection… this has always been about people first, aesthetics second. So yeah. Very grateful. Very emotional. Very proud of this slightly crazy, analogue hearted, doing it my own way journey. And to every couple who’s trusted me with their story, thank you. I love you. Truly.

A little hello from behind the camera…and this time, in front of it too. I’m Loraine (she/her) wedding photographer, artist, and lifelong lover of storytelling through light, texture, and connection. Last week I took part in a photographer headshot swap and the incredible @simonhird photographed me on my film camera. I was a burlesque dancer, model and even did a little acting in my 20s. So I knew I didn’t want ā€œjustā€ headshots. I wanted portraits that felt a bit rock ā€˜n’ roll, a bit vintage, a bit fashion and completely, unapologetically me. Simon absolutely nailed it. Of course I had to bring out this epic dress from @queensofarchive and my @loefflerrandall shoes ✨ The last year has been a bit of a whirlwind health-wise. I live with endometriosis, and alongside my health getting worse I’ve also lost my self confidence and sense of self. Since having surgery in January, I’ve been slowly rebuilding and I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. Getting in front of the camera was a way of claiming that back. My work is a mix of film and digital, instinct and intention. I chase interesting light, real connection, a sense of place and that fleeting magic that makes a photo feel like a memory. My unique perspective of being both sides of the camera and my journey through over 20 years since picking up a film camera in high school art shapes the way I tell stories and direct people. I have an appreciation and love for art, fashion and cinematography that inspires my work. If you’re looking for wedding photography full of soul, storytelling, and a little bit of edge… we might just be a perfect match.

Still not over just how gorgeous Lauren & Finlay’s wedding at @wintoncastle was last month — a true feast for the eyes and the heart. From the pink dining room of dreams to their bold, joy-filled colour palette, every detail felt like it had stepped out of a painting. It was romantic, playful, and completely them. What made it even more special? Capturing it on film. The grain, the tones, the texture brought such warmth and depth to a day already full of feeling. I feel so lucky to work with couples who not only trust my creative vision, but fully lean into it. Lauren & Finlay, you were a dream. Jordan & Alec eloped to Edinburgh all the way from Atlanta, and what a beautiful day it was ✨ ā€œWe’re both very low key and didn’t want a huge wedding. We’re so excited to have something intimate between just the two of us. Scotland is really important to Alec — his grandparents are from here and he studied in Edinburgh. I can’t wait to explore a place that means so much to him.ā€ They got ready together at @virginhotelsedi before heading to their ceremony at the historic @riddlescourt . Afterward, we wandered through some of Edinburgh’s most iconic spots; the Vennel steps, Dean Village and Victoria St. Soaking up the sunshine and sneaking into a quiet pub for a celebratory pint. It felt like something out of a storybook. Most of the day was captured on film, but I’ve included a few digital favourites too. Including one with my current obsession: using a film camera flash on my digital camera for that nostalgic, night-out energy. I’m so in love with how it all came together šŸŽžļø DREAM TEAM Venues: @virginhotelsedi & @riddlescourt @shbtweddings Photographer: @loraineross (me) Flowers: @wilderflowershop Hair and make up: @citybrides Celebrant: Iain Sinclair @celebrate_people_ceremonies

A few 35mm film frames from Katie & Jack’s absolute belter of a wedding at @monachylemhorhotel last month šŸŽžļøāœØ When they first got in touch they told me: ā€œWe wanted to get married in Scotland, close to where Katie’s grandparents live, as she would love them to be able to come, and it’s a place that holds many special memories. We loved Monachyle Mhor’s beautiful surroundings and relaxed vibe. As most of our friends and family will be coming from England, it will be something different for them to experience. No real theme to the day, we just want it to feel laid back and fun for everyone.ā€ And honestly… they absolutely nailed it. The whole day felt so warm and effortless. Everyone properly relaxed into it, the atmosphere was incredible, and Monachyle looked ridiculously beautiful tucked away in the hills. Add in the unreal food (still thinking about it tbh) and it was one of those weddings that just felt good from start to finish

A few 35mm and 120 film favourites from May & Sam’s incredible day at @rcpevenue ✨it was such an joy to have it featured in print and digital on @tietheknotscotland These two have the most romantic story: they met on an oyster farm in Japan (I mean… come on! How perfect is that?). Their wedding was a beautiful blend of cultures, travel, and love, with family and friends joining them from Japan, the USA, and across the UK to celebrate in the heart of Edinburgh. A day full of elegance, connection, and so much joy… and this is just a tiny glimpse of it. The film photos just capture the energy of the day so perfectly šŸŽžļø Thank you to @southsun for being the most amazing film lab. All drama, all romance… exactly how I love it. There’s something about black & white film that strips everything back to feeling. No distractions, just light, shadow, connection. The way it holds emotion feels closer to memory than reality. I was photographing a lot of these at like 1/30th and there’s something about the emotion of a slow shutter speed on b&w film the digital just capture. And these two… Kitty & Rene are completely magnetic together and like something out of my creative dream world. Shot on medium format 400TX and 35mm HP5, both pushed +2 for that extra grit, contrast and mood I’ll never get tired of. We love a tablescape captured on film. šŸŽžļøšŸ“ø It reveals a side of our products that often sits just beyond the reach of polished digital imagery. Where professional product photography excels in clarity and precision, film leans into atmosphere. These shots from Harlaxton Manor do just that. Moving through the building, the series captures two distinct tablescapes alongside a ceremony setting framed with our Cane Montaigne chairs. šŸ“· Shot by @loraineross šŸ–‹ļø Concept & Design @elevate_workshops šŸŖ„ Styling @storiesof_events šŸ“‹ On-the-Day Co-ordination & Styling Support @navytuxevents šŸ’ Florist @emmacoxbrocante āœ‰ļø Stationery @lucymcspiritdesign šŸ’„ Hair & Makeup @daniellamakeuphair šŸ‘— Dresses @veniinfantinobridal 🩵 Dressing Gown @ariannabespoke šŸ° Cake & Patisserie Table @erzuliecakes šŸŖ‘ Tableware, Chairs & Furniture @optionsgreathire šŸ° Venue @harlaxton_manor

A few of the film frames from Lizzie & Ewan’s sun-soaked wedding last May at Guardswell Farm āœØšŸŽžļø There’s something about seeing the day through the soft grain and rich tones of 35mm and medium format film that just feels right. The warm, intentional, full of love and thought and unfiltered joy. They brought their people together from Scotland, Switzerland and Australia for a celebration that was all heart. Secondhand treasures, seasonal sharing food, wildflowers everywhere, and a ceilidh that had everyone spinning around on the dance floor (I’m so obsessed their first dance song, ā€œTake My Handā€ by @skerryvore ) It was one of those days that leaves a mark. Honest, joyful, and filled with the kind of magic that film captures so beautifully. Obsessed with how these came back from the lab šŸŽžļø Romantic, candlelit, a little bit moody, a little bit dramatic. Exactly the kind of light and feeling I’ll chase forever. The way the glow from the candles, the light and shadows, the texture in the walls, the richness of the tones… this is why I love film so much. Captured on a mix of 35mm and medium format at the beautiful @elevate_workshops at @themountwithout_events last month. Film just feels different. ✨ DREAM TEAM Workshop host @elevate_workshops Design, concept and styling @storiesof_events Florist @emmacoxfloristry Venue @themountwithout_events Stationery @lucymcspiritdesign Tableware @chateaunoireventhire Cakes @theorchidkitchen
