A little hello from behind the cameraā¦and this time, in front of it too.
Iām Loraine (she/her) wedding photographer, artist, and lifelong lover of storytelling through light, texture, and connection.
Last week I took part in a photographer headshot swap and the incredible
@simonhird photographed me on my film camera.
I was a burlesque dancer, model and even did a little acting in my 20s. So I knew I didnāt want ājustā headshots. I wanted portraits that felt a bit rock ānā roll, a bit vintage, a bit fashion and completely, unapologetically me. Simon absolutely nailed it. Of course I had to bring out this epic dress from
@queensofarchive and my
@loefflerrandall shoes āØ
The last year has been a bit of a whirlwind health-wise. I live with endometriosis, and alongside my health getting worse Iāve also lost my self confidence and sense of self. Since having surgery in January, Iāve been slowly rebuilding and Iām finally starting to feel like myself again. Getting in front of the camera was a way of claiming that back.
My work is a mix of film and digital, instinct and intention. I chase interesting light, real connection, a sense of place and that fleeting magic that makes a photo feel like a memory. My unique perspective of being both sides of the camera and my journey through over 20 years since picking up a film camera in high school art shapes the way I tell stories and direct people. I have an appreciation and love for art, fashion and cinematography that inspires my work.
If youāre looking for wedding photography full of soul, storytelling, and a little bit of edge⦠we might just be a perfect match.
