we wanted to make a video to capture the energy of two people who love music loving music (and watch anderson bodddyy the drums).
a live video but not stiff like top of the pops. trying to be more like one of those deep cuts of a music documentary you find on YouTube, where somehow someone was in the room and managed to bless us all by filming it.
so we filmed on one reel of film, until it ran out!

creative director for @fredagainagainagainagainagain first stadium show at the memorial coliseum
the coliseum is one of the most amazing venues I’ve ever been too. majestic! from the moment we saw it we knew we had to USE the WHOLE thing, exploiting every single corner of the space to create something that felt as sweaty and intimate as our tiny shows from not long ago.
this was the challenge of all challenges… we’re so blessed that every single man on the team was dooown with the experiment!! there was a city of warriors required to make this happen. and many many days that became nights that became mornings.

Here’s a breakdown…
1. The announcement (5 days before the show). Directed by me. DP by Jeff. Produced by Mike and Balint. Special mention to Tim who graded this overnight.
2. The MOAT. This is the circular, artery stage that brought the show close to everything. Mirroring the architecture of the stadium, it’s flowing and alive like a liquid.
3. Fred making moat plans last month.
4. Fred travelling on the moat. Kasper and Elliot killed this look.
5. One of many trips to the coliseum since we first visited in September last year. This is in April, working out how long it would take to walk across the stadium with Ben, Frankie, Josh, Steve and Fred.
6. Fred and Tony stood on the moat battling on the MPC from opposite sides of the stadium.
7. Fred and Obongjayar performing from the stands. We gave everyone torches to light them.
8. I could do a whole separate post about how much I love this stage design from Frankie and Ben. We wanted to create something with contrast. A soft and flowing base with a hard and sturdy stage on top. We created an A & B stage with the same design.

we went to New York a couple of weeks ago. fred realised yachty had never heard the tune out of anything bigger than a phone speaker before - so we filmed him hearing it for the first time out of a soundsystem

directed a series of films when berwyn returned to trinidad after leaving 20 years ago. 🇹🇹
if you listen to Berwyn’s music you will know that his relationship with the UK authorities is a bit mad. this is from the trip that happened when his passport was finally patterned. What a privilege to be able to document it. the mission was to keep it real. Not a sob story but warmth, family and belonging.
everyone on this team was a warrior. with a crew of 2 aand some seeeeeerious trini fixers, we shot all of this in 3 days, on a weeks notice. met some absolute legends along the way and saw some of the most beautiful shit i think I’ll ever see…
right now this is my favourite film I’ve every made.
1. family dinner at Berwyn’s house with the aunties and uncles. This is the first time this has happened since B was about 5. At the end of this clip is Berwyn up a tree. Tarzan. this is from the path to satisfaction video.
2. we pulled up at Berwyn’s cousins barber shop one evening. Hamish had the idea to shoot a freestyle in one shot. This was the first take and we didn’t really have a plan. Konrad absolutely bodied this move.

4. tracking shot through the market. We had two goes before the police shut us down. Luckily the locals played ball.

creative director and show director of 5 nights at ally pally (and 6 x europe, 3 x NY & 8 x LA) w Fred again
always love to fred for always pushing us to push it. we wanted to create something that felt exciting and new but also was able to change and evolve. so, every single night we play completely different songs, in different orders, and all with unique lighting and video ideas.
the idea of a artist performing in a boxy stage has always felt counter intuitive to me. a show is all about the feeling of shared experience & everybody being under the same roof (literally!), so we wanted to create something that embodied this mentality without overthinking it.
big ups all the crew for stepping up to the challenge and working fucking hard to evolve, learn and create. A month of 19 hour days certifies warrior status.
1. this is the coolest photo anyone has taken of my work. Fred battles through the crowd and played the MPC. suddenly ally pally felt like a tiny club.

3. the rig Tom drew when we were working out how to film in 3D. we shot 40 films for the show on iPhones so that we could stay agile while making and escape the un-human feeling you get working with on big sets. actual life.
4. watching the video Ethan shot off the back of a motorbike on the big screens for the first time. deep the stars!
5. how we tested content on the fly
6. when it rains at festivals it’s the most magical thing in the world. suddenly regardless of who u are, everyone is soaked and in the same boots. the only thing that could be better than this is snow, so we made it snow.
7. we gave everyone blue ‘gels’ to put in front of their phone torches. then made a starry blue sky too. the whole room was full of blue stars. this didn’t post :(
8. towards the end of the show take everyone into the present tense so the screens are taken over by iPhones in the crowd. this is the first time we tested also putting cameras in the roof. it was un expectedly exciting to see yourself from this perspective so now we leave it on at the end of the show so people feel that too
9. last night in Brussels during loving arms. love how orange every corner of room is.
directed and wrote a film with @footballbeyondborders (a 🔥 charity) about how a new era of girls sport is fun, doesn’t dictate your entire personality and that its ok to be a girl that does both.
this was a hellllaaaa fun and inspirational one.
we did a workshop with the fbb girls before finalising a script. I asked what excuses their mates give when they want to play a game of football. the girls had NONE!! this hit me hard and is such a different outlook to my own experience as a teenager. FBB are nurturing a legendary generation of girls.
after this the girls and i wrote a story, to reflect their reality. we all decided that we hated sob stories and cringey stereotypes in films about women’s football. so instead we decided to make something real…
1. part 1 of the film. we pulled all this audio from a legit groupchat we made.
2. part 2 of the film. I wish that ball hitting Isabella’s head was scripted, but it wasn’t.
3. the workshop we did early days, where I realised how different things are for 16 year olds now.
4. FBB 🤝 Fred again.. shirt swap (maybe more to come here..) @ceylonandi who is wearing the shirt here heads up Girls at FBB and is a real legend. It’s nice to meet people who care!

four tet, Fred again.. & skrillex aka pangbourne house mafia headlined coachella with 3 days notice.
we’ve had a crazy year. we did the first ever PHM surprise show at electric ballroom, Camden in January. There was no agenda other than ‘this will be fun’. 4 months, and 7 surprise shows later (including Madison Square Gardens 🤣) the lads are TBA in front of 80,000 at coachella.
big ups all the team - this was the most insane graft from all. here are some slides to try and piece together what happened -

6. this drone shot is my favourite thing to look at from the show. we flipped coachella on it’s head. the first ever coachella set in the round! the idea was that everyone felt under the same roof, like in a club. no crazy pyro or visuals - just a very smart lighting rig that meant the crowd always felt experienced exactly the same thing as the guys, sharing the moment together. This created a very rare and special coachella energy.
7. emergency pre vis rig in somebodies garage in Palm Springs on Saturday night. 24 hours to go. This ‘light shaft’ was an exciting evolution for an in-the-round roofless stage
