It's been a little while since we've shared some work. Here are some of our favorite projects we worked on over the last year. Thank you to all our clients, cohorts and collaborators and cheers to what's in store!
We started chewing on the idea for a video for Say It with Zup and his team in January and got it shot in one day in April, fully contained to one location. We used the Canon C200 as the only cam, split between sticks and a shoulder rig.
We blacked out the space with trash bags, built our key with a couple budget LEDs hung on coat hangers, and shaped the room with whatever modifiers we could rig on the fly. Pure lo-fi engineering to control contrast, color, and direction without a grip truck. An amazing shoot with a small team that didn’t hold any punches.
We say that to say you’d be really shocked what you can do with very little if the intention and direction are clear. 🔥

PRICE the album by @sound.on.tape is out now!
For the album’s visual rollout, Long Division collaborated with our great friends at Ladybug AV and took over Black Valve’s soundstage to build a custom, fully analog-inspired, multi-screen installation.
We ran a wall of CRT TVs, each powered by custom video loops using Raspberry Pi’s and VCRs. Every screen was assigned a video feed using a color and number coded sticker system that helped us sync playback across the setup. The center stack was then operated in realtime, giving us the flexibility for reactive visuals as we conducted the performance.
This was a month-long build in the making!
From hardware planning, signal routing, sync testing, encoding, tape prep, and organizing a dense web of cables and playback devices. What looks like chaos from the outside was actually a carefully mapped and rehearsed system. Each screen, sticker, and frame had a purpose that played into the theme of the album as well as the project as a whole.
Huge thanks to the full crew who helped pull this off. From late-night and early morning troubleshooting to load-in and layout, this was a production that blended tech, design, and music into a single visual language and dare we say it was a knock out of the park!

We have officially released our latest project! Gabriel is a music video for the debut single for @sound.on.tape and touches on the subject of spirituality in the black community. This video concept for us was something we had been discussing amongst ourselves for a few years now, wanting to both praise the history of our spirituality but also show what that may look like in today's world.
One of the most interesting things about community and spirituality especially in the black community is how interwoven it is with everything and how just like in our previous project Ancestors it has this beautiful way of being something more than what it is on paper or in the tangible space.
We absolutely loved making this project and have to not only shout-out all the crew and cast but specifically the brilliant camera and light work of @jackson.c.clark but also the breathtaking choreography of @erykahjule who came on board just about a week before we shot and made the video literally light up! Thank you all for helping this story see it's day.
