Happy birthday, Lola Helena. 🤎 You would have been 67 today. You had the brightest smile in every room, and carried the softest, silliest spirit with you wherever you went.
Everything we do at Lola’s is because this beautiful woman filled us up with her love. We feel so lucky now that we get to share that love with you in such a special way that keeps her spirit alive through her recipes.

We’re teaming up with our friends at @eightfoldcoffee to host an alt Valentine’s day popup market at their Echo Park location this Saturday, Feb. 14th from 10am - 3pm ❣️
Come shop for treats, gifts, flowers, & more from local makers and help us raise money for @mutualaidlanetwork aid efforts!
@lolas__la will have a table there with cookies & supplies for crafting Valentine’s cards courtesy of @itsatrinketparty .
If you’re hungry, @onehotminutela will be cooking up some of their renowned Peruvian-Chinese fusion 🍜
We will also be providing resources and information for folks looking for ways to contribute to mutual aid and rapid response efforts in the city of LA.

This event is a community-powered 5k and popup market in honor of Filipino history, education, and the spirit of Bayanihan. The 5k route starts on Sunset Blvd, goes through historic Filipino town, and Echo Park lake.
We’re raising funds for the Helena Eugenio Westrate Foundation which distributes yearly school supplies and learning resources to students across 25 barangays in Santa Ignacia, Philippines. We do this in honor of Helena, a beloved lola, mother, nurse, runner, baker, and proud Filipina.

Guests will experience this time-honored tradition with thoughtfully curated teas inspired by Filipino flavors and a spread of savory and sweet Merienda classics. Guests are invited to handcraft suman to take home and this afternoon will feature Filipino craft making with @unoder of @kubo.craft , as well as grounding by Marifel Catalig of @breathtodeath .
