Ez crew! Two sleeps to go! On Saturday the zooriginals @maryyoung.zoo & @mysteerisignaali will warm up the chamber for Loefah, both taking controls for solid two hours. Monumental guest, monumental warm-up. 🗿
Mary says she’ll build her set around tunes we’ve never heard from her, so expect a ride to uncharted territories. ”I love to play longer opening sets, and taking my listeners thru different atmospheres. Eerie creepers and brain twisters incoming! Lotsa new stuff!!”
Come early as the tickets are only 5€ + cloakfroom from 22.00–23.00 and U wont miss the Queen of the Zoo!!
Volpe is taking the reins on midnight and has dug up some deep and dark old school dubstep for the first hour. It will be all about the noughties and the naughties… but thematically close to Loefah’s career arc, the sound might get more modern and energetic towards the end of the set.
”All I can say is it will get dark.. Lotsa bass heavy choons and most of its is gonna be real evil. I’m inspired by Loefah, he’s one of my favorite producers. Evil and minimal. Just the way I like it. In Oslo (@subsandwubs 12/25) I opened with a Loefah tune without knowing I’d be warming up for him soon. It’s crazy! The Zoo community loves big fat basslines and sinister, dangerous vibes.. and so do I 😈” Volpe says with a naughty look on his face…
And to top it off @loefah is gonna give us a 2 hour lesson on the London Sound. We are boosting the Kammari sound with a couple of @rigdebug subs so come and join us in bass meditation on Saturday!
There’s still some 13€ advance tickets on so grab yours if u know you wont make it to da club before 11 o’clock like Rashad taught us!! 22-23 5€

LDNZOO HKI posse is happy to introduce a big inspiration and influence, the South London don LOEFAH. His tracks have been played out in the Helsinki nightlife since the 00s and it’s a priviledge to have him back!
”Loefah has helped to change the sounds of UK underground clubbing twice, first with DMZ, the dubstep record label and club night that he ran with Mala, Coki and Sgt. Pokes, and then with Swamp81, a label that drew from 808-driven electro and hip-hop in a dark UK club context.” -180 Fact
Loefah’s productions had a part in forming the dark & minimal sound of dubstep in the 00s London scene with the DMZ crew, Youngsta, Hatcha, D1 etc.
Drawing influence from the jungle and dnb of the 90s he was forging the new sound of dubby and more sinister bass music developing out of UK garage. Percussive productions quickly evolved to more sub bass focused minimal and downright evil tracks. Slowly people in the scene started nodding to it instead of feeling confused.
Dubstep Warz radio session in 2006 was turning point: what was a beautiful snapshot of the scene resulted in growing appeal. Dubstep music grew massively in popularity ~2006-2009 and what started as a versatile ug scene with unique styles and experimentation, soon became a market farming a template and a formula that resulted in overload of tracks sounding the same.
What once was a thriving, exciting sound became bigger, louder but repetitive and watered down. Same old story that happened to many genres before dubstep.
Loefah avoided the trap of mainstream money and founded his own record label SWAMP 81 in 2009, now shifting onto a different soundscape formed of familiar elements but creating new: drum machine focus, still sub heavy, but more percussive and techno-y, avoiding the tropes of 140bpm music already out there. Wide range of genres and styles fused in S81 and the label quickly became a household name known for quality in the post-dubstep era bridging the gap between techno and bass music…

The iconic ultra dark South London minimalist,
one of dubsteps most infuential producers and our biggest inspirators, LOEFAH, is coming to Helsinki after more than a decade!
In co-operation with Club Kaiku, LDNZOOHKI is extremely proud to present the OG, the pioneer of heavyweight 140 halfstep sound! 🦍
Limited amount of advance tickets now available at Eventual!
Loefah is one of the last true pioneers of a British dance genre as one of the founders of dubstep, but his musical influences span a multitude of genres from Chicago House to true hardcore. Both his original productions and dj sets are orchestrated by an acute knowledge of how to take people on an experience. His productions are known to be minimal and dark but he effortlessly delivers intricate
joy into a track too.
He’s been in the game for 20 years but also understands and has a deep love for music prior to the electronic musical evolution of the rave scene.
Big boss founder of iconic South London dance music label Swamp 81 and co founder of the iconic dmz, he has bought through and continues to bring through some of the most exciting names in UK dance music and has himself had releases
on a multitude of labels from Teklife and Deep Medi Music to Big Apple Records and Ninja Tune.
Loefah has toured the world a few times over, every time understanding how to light up a dance floor with a knowledge attributed by years of knowing what sounds good and of course, a strong sense of style which can’t be taught.

Loefah in Miglionico last December for the closing party of Open Sound Festival 2025.
It might have seemed surreal to have a figure of this stature in a small, remote town in the depths of Basilicata, but it was all true — the Don of South London and UK dubstep legend stepped behind the decks, doing what he’s best known for: locking the dancefloor in front of a huge DIY sound system.
Forever blessed for this.

OPEN SOUND FESTIVAL 2025: MIGLIONICO (MATERA, IT) DAY 2 — 28 DEC at Castello del Malconsiglio. Festival closing party curated by @fayda.exe
Every festival worth its name has a closing party — ours, BASS CONSPIRACY, will be in collaboration with Fayda.exe, one of the most solid forces in our echo-system. Together, we’re thrilled to present an absolutely remarkable line-up — amplified by the presence of @wicked_and_wild_sound_system :
@loefah (DJ set) — the Don of South London, a legend of UK dubstep and an undisputed pillar of bass culture.
@atra_bilis (DJ set) — his productions reflect a unique blend of Southern Italy’s sound-system tradition with a contemporary, distinctly UK-oriented touch.
@studiogleba — an extension of the Fayda.exe collective, performing a live audiovisual project exclusively for OSA, inspired by the Congiura dei Baroni, the legendary event that marked the history of Castello del Malconsiglio and the destiny of South Italy.

Introducing BASS CONSPIRACY — our closing party at Castello del Malconsiglio, Miglionico (Matera, IT) — 28 DEC 2025, curated by @fayda.exe .
Within the same centuries-old walls where, in the 11th century, the conspiracy that reshaped the destiny of Southern Italy took form, we will celebrate the final act of Open Sound Festival.
To honor this sacred place, we rely on a line-up of absolute solidity:
@loefah — the Don of South London, a pivotal figure in the bass scene for the past twenty years and a pioneer of dubstep.
@atra_bilis — member of the FAYDA.EXE collective, known as the “bass scientist” — a title that speaks for itself.
@studiogleba — an offshoot of the FAYDA.EXE collective, presenting “The Plot”: a special A/V live show exclusively for OSA, inspired by the historical events held within the walls of Castello del Malconsiglio.
