What’s the old saying “ Give a man a fish feed him for a day. TEACH HIM TO FISH FEED HIM FOR A LIFETIME!” That’s the problem out the there we need to teach our youth to prepare for a lifetime. Some schools out there claiming kids teaching classes are a waste of your money… well naturally without supervision of the qualified high level professionals it is… it’s also dangerous. But if it it’s your child teaching, under the right direction.. what’s it praising him for? What’s it teaching him and the kids that need him or her doing it. Don’t you learn the skill better by showing, don’t you teach them to learn to be responsible that way, to take pride in what they do, to set goals… isn’t that the bigger@picture of learning a martial art? Not just the medals and learning how to fight.. but learning to help and teach others, learning to be successful on and off the mats. Learning to plan for the future… Yes @lockdownbjj we prepare the them for the future. I started this journey a long time ago… in the beginning it was for me. For my sanity Something to ground me Something to take away my struggles with depression and life’s pains Something to prove my self worth to others who made me feel unworthy And somewhere along the way I realized others opinions don’t matter, the only one that matters is the opinion you have of yourself. That on this journey of life it’s not about what you prove to others or what personal belongings you accumulate or all the money you have… what’s important is the lives you touch. The giving back, the helping others and for over 20 years I have set my focus on just that giving back and helping others. I try to do it everyday still. That’s what BJJ has done for me..
