[RETOUR EN IMAGES] Retour en images sur la performance « Le Chant du coq » de l’artiste Ines Borovac qui s’est tenue le jeudi 24 avril au FRAC. Présentée en écho à l’exposition « This Transition Will Never End », cette performance est imaginée comme un geste de réappropriation du temps qui passe, celui particulier entre le jour et la nuit, entre la nuit et le jour. Une traversée de cet entre-deux où les corps s’affranchissent des normes et des règles. 🌟 Un grand merci à tou·tes d’avoir été présent·es à cette soirée. Cette performance a été réalisée avec le soutien de l’ambassade du Royaume des Pays-Bas. ❤️ Why Wouldn’t You Date Me? 💔 After almost a month of this intense experience I am finally prepared to bring this project to the public. I am beyond grateful for all the brave people who went out on a date with me and participated in this live rollercoaster. Alcalá #808, Oaxaca Centro, MX …El uso de espuma como material también fue escondido debajo del vestido rojo con la intención de suavizar sus caídas. En el video las caídas suceden en reversa, el cuerpo no se lastima, se restaura; al haber grabado en casas privadas y espacios públicos, el proceso implicó negociar la confianza de extraños, convirtiendo espacios íntimos en escenarios de vulnerabilidad.

Alcalá #808, Oaxaca Centro, MX …Tanto en la escultura como en el video, el cuerpo insiste: cae, se amortigua y repite, dejando visible la fricción entre vulnerabilidad y resistencia. La espuma, el vestido y la repetición performativa de una caída se traducen en formas que encarnan tanto la suavización impuesta como la voluntad de sostener el exceso afectivo. De este modo ambas piezas materializan una lucha contra la sedación contemporánea, donde la imagen en movimiento y el objeto escultórico se convierten en archivo físico de una emoción que a veces da mano firme y a veces se rehúsa a ser disciplinada. 📸 @quiero_bosque

INSTALACIÓN: Soft Falls and Hard Truths una instalación multimedia de Ines Borovac Nos entusiasma muchísimo invitarles la materialización que Ines Borovac ah dejado con nosotros tras su residencia este pasado mes de enero. Como resultado de su tiempo en La Clínica, Ines produjo un performance colaborativo con Isabel Narezo Balzaretti y Roberto Mosqueda presentado el 7 de Febrero, acompañado de un vestuario diseñado por Salma Carbajal y audio producido por Harry Castle…. A la par de la producción para el performance también produjo una instalación multimedia compuesta de un video y una escultura. “Titulada aptamente: Caídas Suaves y Duras Verdades, refleja su resistencia en la labor del video y escultura de espuma. El uso de espuma como material también fue escondido debajo del vestido rojo con la intención de suavizar sus caídas. Performance de Ines Borovac (@lochnesi ) Una escena larga y sin alivio: Todos quieren ser deseados, nadie quiere desear. Escenificada entre la sedación y el exceso, este performance explora la lucha de los cuerpos por expresar emociones, conflicto y deseo dentro de una sociedad altamente alienada de su corporalidad y optimizada hacia la producción de capital. […] Esta presión se alinea con normas algorítmicas y estéticas que favorecen superficies estáticas y controladas por encima de una corporalidad expresiva y desordenada. Esto no es un auto-cuidado neutral; es una disciplina y represión emocional culturalmente condicionada que borra el afecto del rostro y del cuerpo. Para contrastar la sedación de la expresión, el performance se inspira en la expresividad melodramática de las telenovelas. 🌐 Staged between sedation and excess, the performance explores a struggle of bodies to express emotions, conflict and desire in a highly disembodied and optimised society. […] This pressure aligns with algorithmic and aesthetic norms that favor static, controlled surfaces over expressive, messy embodiment. This is not neutral self-care; it is culturally conditioned emotional discipline that erases affect from the face and body. In order to contrast the sedation of expression, the performance utilises the melodramatic expression of telenovelas. 📢 Artist Talk: Ines Borovac (@lochnesi ) ✨ 🗓️ 28 de enero 🕒 7pm 📍 C. Alcalá #808, Oaxaca Centro 🌐 Ines llevara esta charla en ingles, con una breve introducción en español por La Clínica Ines Borovac (1996, Cro.) is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in the Netherlands. She holds a Master degree from Design Academy Eindhoven, MA Social design where she developed her practice in the field of performance and movement research. As a Balkan feminist in her practice, Borovac often infiltrates various patriarchal, religious or traditional systems with aim to create altering speculative scenarios. Working in a domaine of performance art, the foundation of Borovac artistic practice unfolds with gesture research analyzing harmful bodily behaviours, rituals and systems of corporeal surveillance.  Her research for this residency explores hysteria, emotional excess, and excessive gestures from soap operas (telenovelas) and melodramatic portrayals of female characters. Through a critical, embodied lens, the project examines how such affective excess is historically pathologized and how it resonates today within conditions of political and emotional sedation of expression.

ARTISTA EN RESIDENCIA 🥼 Ines Borovac (@lochnesi ) 🩺 04.01 - 07.02.2026 En La Clínica (Oaxaca, México), la artista Croata basada en Ámsterdam co-presentará un taller participativo que invitará a otrxs artistas de movimiento en México a explorar gestos dramáticos de exceso y su representación en los medios populares mexicanos. “El taller se estructura como un programa de capacitación de cinco días para combatir la ‘sedación sociotecnológica’. En una época en la que el bótox suaviza la expresión facial y los algoritmos recompensan los comportamientos serenos… actuar excesos significa evitar la ‘sedación’ y mercantilización de la expresión.” El último día de su residencia la artista y los participantes presentarán los resultados de su colaboración a través de un performance en La Clínica. El performance será una pieza durativa que se extenderá al jardín y a la fachada pública del edificio, confrontando a la audiencia y activando el espacio público. The work explores hysteria, emotional excess, and excessive gestures from soap operas (𝓽𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓼) and melodramatic portrayals of female characters. Through a critical, embodied lens, the project examines how such affective excess is historically pathologized and how it resonates today within conditions of political and emotional sedation of expression. Created in collaboration with 40 outstanding choir singers and 4 kindest and talented performers <3 It was a joy to create and perform The performance unfolds as a living composition of body, voice, and movement — a collective act between the artist, performers Cosme Fodor @no_cute_cat , Šimun Stankov @stank.offfff , Nino Bokan, and Domagoj Obadić, together with the INA Choir @chorus_ina , who will activate selected segments of the Requiem for this performance. I want to thank from a bottom of my heart to Bojan Pogrmilović and the INA choir for their time and cooperation, exceptional gratitude to all the performers without whom the movements and choreography nor the performance would not exist, especially Šimun Stankov for his movement advice. Thanks to @c4stl3e Harry Castle for his endless emotional support and sound design for the initial performance, to my family and friends who have full faith in me in moments of great challenges.
