Rest easy, Brother. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.🚒🖤
IAFF Local 22 Philadelphia Firefighters & Paramedics Union would like to wish all the incredible mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you for your strength, love, sacrifice, and everything you do each and every day.🌷
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026 the Living Flame Memorial Service honored Battalion Chief John Narkin III and his sacrifice to the City of Philadelphia.
Chief Narkin gave decades of service to the people of Philadelphia and ultimately lost his life to job-related CANCER caused by the dangers firefighters face long after the flames are out.
We will never forget his dedication, leadership, and sacrifice. May his memory forever live on in the hearts of Philadelphia Firefighters and Paramedics.
For IAFF Local 22, leaders that prioritize public safety and respect the work of our Firefighters, Paramedics, and EMTs are appreciated. You have demonstrated that commitment.
President Mike Bresnan catching up with City Council President Kenyatta Johnson discussing a potential City Charter Change to protect Firefighters’ and Paramedics’ arbitration awards (contracts) from being appealed by the city.
Not long ago, Mayor Michael Nutter’s administration appealed Local 22’s contract. We are hopeful we never have to endure that type of disrespect to our brave members again.
On behalf of all of our members, IAFF Local 22 sends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the Chicago Fire Department and IAFF Local 2.
Rest in peace, Brother.
