Baro't Saya meets a delicious mango 🥭 This homage was an incredible undertaking and so proud of the result. The train was a redesign from Mandy's collection. It was originally designed in the Philippines and the main piece that inspired the lace of the gown. Each tier was originally hand sewn to the base and the redesign was no different. I created a custom gradient made of 200 yards of tulle in all the colors in the mango. I deconstructed the multiple tiers from the base, attached the tulle to the tiers by machine, and reshaped the base to accommodate the new tiers. To reattach, the wonderful @livchiaravalli came in with the hand sewing skills and attached each layer. Fun fact, instead of attaching them straight across, the tiers are formed into a M. It's all in the details. Due to the weight/size, I created a belted bustle to carry this massive piece. The train has a bright yellow lace and we brought that into the gown. I went with a guipure lace in a bright orange and deep shades of red and pink satin to compliment and add the perfect contrast. The overall design shapes are inspired by the curves of the mango, which highlights Mandy's own curves, and the baro't saya. The cropped jacket has direct elements of the baro't saya mixed in with the flair of mid-century designs. I didn't document this but the garments have individually cut and cured flowers/scallops (about 100) from the lace that were placed throughout the entire garment. It gave it dimensions and movement that float off the body. Creating two deeply personal pieces for this package was truly an honor and I appreciate the trust to pay tribute to the rich cultural history of the Philippines and the amazing Filipinas that have been in my life. ✨️ #costumedesign #filipina #mango #custom #dragrace

Royal leopard!✨️ This is my first bralette and tap short set and very proud of what I've been able to accomplish. I'm building on my skills and exploring custom underbits and stretchy fabrics. The cut is based off a 1930s pattern that was then customized for my clients needs, which was to sex it up. 😜 We shortened it up and went with a cute booty window. It can be worn as is or with the leopard print panel skirt flowing through it. It's sexy, luxe, and flirty - a truly perfect combo.💅 Costume features- *Soft cup bralette with hand pleated front. When I saw this theme for the runway, I instantly became excited to bring this concept to life! Crafting your legacy one seam at a time.✨️ Costumes are the most personal aspect of stage performances. They have a value of their own and elevate the story being told on stage. In a time where our history, culture, identity is constantly being buried, my mission is preserve and showcase your stories. I'm not just a designer, I'm a visual translator of your inspiration, emotion/passion, and legacy. It's a true collabortion that results in masterful and innovative costumes that add color, shape, textures, and symbolism to your act. Beige against the machine!✨️ I'm so excited to finally share this look. This was an incredible undertaking that combined the art of traditional filipino hand weaving with modern construction, truly tapping in to the full theme concept of "against the machine." I did extensive research on different weaves, basket shapes, and contemporary filipino couture to create bold statement shapes in a few weeks. 😅 Design elements- Each panel in the full look features different hand woven designs that mirrors each side using several different widths of burlap ribbon. We went with a clean deconstruction to showcase the beauty and complexity of hand weaving. You can see the intention with each layered ribbon and the exposed fibers that create the weave within the ribbon and burlap fabric. The full look is done in angles and shapes that are pulled from different basket shapes/styles and palm fans. I'm extremely proud of the skirt silhouette and the angle achieved, especially in burlap. A mini skirt that packs a punch! This belt/mini skirt out of mirror/metallic vinyl and gold trim was no small feat. I was sent a rendering and told to make it my own. I love when my clients tell me to go in, it's the perfect fuel for inspiration. I changed up the petals and made shapes based off Chinese ornamental design while keeping the art deco flair. I love the shapes I was able to achieve with the vinyl and trim, it was a fun challenge and really enjoyed the process. Each petal was individually cut and trimmed, with the final look having 28 petals. I went with magnetic snaps for a smooth reveal as this will be used for a fan dance. It took quite a few since this babe has some weight on her. I can't wait to see the final look and this beam under the stage lights. I absolutely love how this custom 3 piece red faux suede/gold brocade suit turned out! I combined the traditional Korean hanbok, gear/harnesses, and modern suiting for this standout costume. It's was a fun challenge to take traditional menswear clothing and give it stylish new twist. Also love deep diving to incorporate my clients hertiage/culture and personality into it. Menswear is typically seen as boring, but this is far from it.
