تعود تسمية ليوان، استوديوهات ومختبرات التصميم إلى اسم الفناء الهادئ في وسط المبنى، ويقع في مبنى يعود إلى منتصف القرن الماضي، كان يضم في السابق أول مدرسة للبنات في قطر.
Named after the serene courtyard at the centre of the space, Liwan Design Studio and Labs is situated in the mid-century building that once housed Qatar’s first girls’ school.

انضموا إلينا في ورشة “مطبوعات أنثوتايب متعددة الألوان"، وهي ورشة تجريبية تستكشف تقنية طباعة الأنثوتايب باستخدام أصباغ طبيعية وتقنيات التلوين اللاحقة للطباعة.
سيستخدم المشاركون مواد نباتية ومعالجات كيميائية لإنشاء مطبوعات وتحويلها من خلال التراكب والتلاشي وتغيير درجات الألوان، مستوحاة من عمليات التصوير الفوتوغرافي المستدامة.

Join us for Multitone Anthotype Prints, an experimental workshop exploring anthotype printing with natural pigments and post-print toning techniques.
Using botanical materials and chemical interventions, participants will create and transform prints through layering, fading, and tonal shifts inspired by sustainable photographic processes.

تجمع هذه الجلسة مؤسِّسات الفكر الامحدود في عجائب الوجود: رهام محمد، إيمان مكي، سارة العفيفي و هند آل سعد، للتأمل في تجربتهن ضمن برنامج الإقامة الفنية في ليوان، واستكشاف ممارستهن الجماعية المتطوّرة، حيث يعملن عبر مجالات الطباعة، النشر، التركيبات الفنية، وأشكال التصميم الممتد.
تتنقّل الجلسة بين المنظورين الفردي والجماعي، مقدّمةً رؤى حول ممارسة كل عضوة، وفي الوقت ذاته تكشف كيف يُسهم التعاون في تشكيل منهجياتهن وعملياتهن ونتائجهن. ويتمحور النقاش حول دور برامج الإقامة الفنية كبُنى أساسية للإنتاج الإبداعي، والتجريب، والبحث، والتبادل، إضافةً إلى دورها في دعم واستدامة المجتمع الإبداعي المحلي.
This talk brings together founders of (in)finite thought: Reham Mohamed, Eman Makki, Sara Al Afifi & Hind Al Saad to reflect on their studio residency at Liwan and their evolving collective practice, working across print, publishing, installation, and expanded forms of design. The session will move between individual and collective perspectives, offering insight into each member’s practice while revealing how collaboration shapes their methodologies, processes, and outcomes. Central to the discussion is the role of studio residencies as critical infrastructure for creative production, experimentation, research, and exchange, and their role in supporting and sustaining the local creative community.
