During the month of November, @hocusreadings is posting a different writing prompt based on a random tarot card draw to their social media every day. They also have a copy of Todd Alcott’s amazing Pulp Tarot to give away to a lucky participant.
During the months of December and January, HOCUS will be collecting responses for possible inclusion in their second chapbook. Watch for details on their social media or sign up for their newsletter at www.hocus.ink.

Usually, the events we post to our calendar are limited to those related to literary themes, activities, or interests. However, given this disastrous destruction of women’s human, reproductive, and privacy rights, we want to raise awareness of any events in the Portland, OR area related to protesting, activist organization, information sessions, etc. that seek to respond to the SCOTUS ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. Certainly, such causes are important to our work as writers and artists as well, and of interest to our community. We will also of course continue to add literary events. Please send links to any such events to [email protected] or [email protected] or submit via /event-submission/
Our sister publication @oldpalmag is open for submissions! Send us your poems/prose/art/etc. by April 30th: oldpalmag.com/submissions

Hey, friends, pals, folks! @portlandbaroque and its Great Arts. Period. initiative are offering their new livestream studio in downtown Portland to performing artists!
If you or a performing arts group you’re connected with has struggled to access professional performance space during the pandemic, the new Great Arts. Period. studio can help you connect with audiences and continue raising funds. PBO is offering the space on a sliding scale based on organization size and leveraging its own underwriting to make the service accessible.
The new studio is intimate and sophisticated, and PBO provides everything required for solid livestreams, including video crew, 4K and 6K cameras, and more. They handle filming, posting, and scheduling so that you can focus on the art.
Visit greatartsperiod.org for more info and to apply to use the studio.
