It isn't exactly 46 years on the dot but pretty close-- the first record I released on Frontier Records, the reason I started Frontier, was to release the FLYBOYS EP in March of 1980. It’s only April 10, pretty close to its release month! Happy Anniversary, us! Who would have thought we’d still be somewhat buoyant? Head over to Frontier’s bandcamp page to get an LP, CD or the digitals. The very first release on Frontier Records in March 1980 was an EP by FLYBOYS, a power pop/punk band that began in 1977 with singer/songwriter John Curry, drummer Dennis Walsh and Jim “Trash” Decker from THE CROWD (and tangentially, Jay from THE SIMPLETONES, who would later sign to Posh Boy.) FLYBOYS gigged all over the southland, paying their dues opening for every national and local punk band from Huntington Beach to Hollywood. They were anything but typical punks -- they wore day-glo clothes and Cuban heels and the songs were maddeningly catchy. Their first release was the ultra-rare Square City/Crayon World 45. Fast forward to 2024, FLYBOYS’ bass player and often singer/songwriter, Scott Lasken, was leaving Los Angeles and discovered a reel of five unreleased, unheard (and not even remembered) FLYBOYS demos in his closet! Two songs-- “Live for Today” and “Every Day” -- did not appear on the Frontier EP but three of the demos do. All are faster and looser due to the songs being so new and recorded for the first time. What a find that was! FLYBOYS The Complete Flyboys 1978-1980 consists of the Frontier EP, the Square City 45 and five unheard, previously unreleased demos and will gain a whole new respect and enthusiasm for the band that the band deserved ever since day one. •Limited Edition on white vinyl! 1000 copies-- that’s all, that’s it!

A musical collaboration from artist Raymond Pettibon and composer Daniel Adams, recording under the name Sür Drone, confirmed the release of a their debut album, T.I.T.S., on Geza X Records and Frontier Records, Sun Valley’s premiere punk rock label since 1980, on Friday, March 13. The album will be released on ocean blue splatter vinyl and digital streaming, now available for purchase on Geza X's bandcamp (his own exclusive blue), Frontier Records' bandcamp (another different, equally heart stopping blue) and for stores and one-stops, via indie distributor Independent Label Distribution. Together, Adams and Pettibon created an unusual musical album full of lowbrow grit and high-concept levity. Raymond supplied the graphics, wrote the lyrics, and performed as lead vocalist. Daniel wrote and produced the music, played guitar, and recorded it to 24-track analog tape. When indie legend GEZA X first heard the results, he gasped “This is dynamite!!” and immediately signed them to GEZA X RECORDS. He reeled in his longtime friend LISA FANCHER (head of illustrious FRONTIER RECORDS) to co-release this high-profile project. Pettibon’s BLACK FLAG and SONIC YOUTH record covers are well known to any record buyer. A self-taught artist born in Tucson, Arizona, Raymond Pettibon emerged in the late 1970s on the California punk-rock scene, designing covers and flyers for SST Records (founded by his brother, Greg Ginn). He began self-publishing his drawings, which adopted the DIY aesthetic of comics, flyers, and fanzines. His name became synonymous with punk art. Today, Pettibon’s modern art museum pieces draw from a wide range of sources, including literature, art history, popular culture, religion, politics, and even sports. The other half of SUR DRONE is Daniel Adams, a multidisciplinary conceptual artist who composed soundtracks for Roger Corman and others. He’s a composer, producer and film director based in Los Angeles, California. Adams’ guitar work covers a broad range of sounds, from surf-styled electric guitar and drones to circuit-bent noise. As a songwriter, his music is a whimsical, rollicking party featuring many guest artists.
