Of all the books in the Bible, Song of Songs may be the one that most changed my relationship with Jesus.
God used this beautiful love story to show me that our relationship with Him was never meant to be merely transactional - it’s deeply personal, intimate, and full of affection.
This 7-session study is so dear to my heart, and I would love for you to join me as we dive into one of the most beautiful books in Scripture together. (Plus, given the fact this biblical literature is pretty spicy in spots, I can assure you it won’t be one of those studies you’ll doze off in!)

We had the sweetest weekend with the saints at The Springs Church near Jacksonville, FL this weekend at their Flourish conference (THANK YOU dear Sarah & Emma 💗). And it was extra special b/c my Aunt Darlene (@dbgrieme , who's more of a sister b/c she's only 8 years older than me) drove up from Central FL to hang out with us. Then after the second worship service this morning, we piled in Darlene's car & raced several hours south through a spicy FL rainstorm (albeit w/a brief @bucees stop to boost our collective morale 😉) so I could get to my recently turned 89 year old mom & wish her a Happy Mother's Day & belated Happy Birthday in person. TOTALLY worth flying out of Orlando & getting home at midnight tonight even though I'm headed to St. Louis tomorrow b/c watching her love on Missy (her only granddaughter) ~ even if it's only for a few hours ~ makes my mama-only-by-God's-grace heart swell with gratitude. 💗💗💗
In every season, every emotion you carry is already held within the pages of Scripture. 📖
On this episode of Back Porch Theology, Lisa and Alli step into the book of Psalms, where we see that God doesn’t shy away from our emotions – but invites us to worship with honesty, freedom, and abandon.

When cloud remnants are still drifting in these Tennessee hills & the sun is shining on that old red barn my day begins with an emotional cartwheel. ☺️ #countrycaffeine
Ever walked through a season where God felt distant?
On this episode of Back Porch Theology, Lisa and Allison walk through the Psalms as a sacred space where every emotion is welcome. From the unresolved grief of Psalm 88 to the messianic hope of Psalm 22, they remind us that God meets us in both sorrow and praise.

All those years ago, when I brought Missy home from Haiti, I remember wondering how I was going to coordinate my full time job(s) with the responsibilities of being a single parent. I distinctly remember worrying how I was going to coordinate taking her to and from school ~ which takes over an hour for each pick up & drop off b/c we live out in the boonies ~ with all the various meetings & recordings I have every week. Now here we are at the end of her freshman year & I've only got a few school pick ups and drop offs left because she'll be driving next year. I can't think about it much because I'm going to miss these precious hours I've gotten to spend with her coming and going from school SO much. I suppose I'll be scattering nails in the driveway come Fall so a flat tire on her truck will force her to bum a ride with her sappy mom every now & then. 😉 #givingthemwings #canbetoughonthemamabird 💗💗💗
I used to walk through these doors of Vandy Children's Hospital (@vumcchildren ) on a regular basis while repeating verses under my breath and trying to restrain the butterflies in my stomach. Worried about how many "pokes" Missy was going to have to endure and what her lab results were going to reveal.
Now, here we are 12+ years since her first hospital visit in the U.S. and her bi-annual check-ups are considered completely "routine." Until I became her second mom, I didn't know that one little word could cause my heart to relax and my hands to instinctively raise in praise.
Thank you, Jesus. And thank you to all the docs, nurses, and hospital staff members who choose to invest their hearts and healing gifts into caring for our kids. Oh and dear @kathryngarguilo , that invisible halo sure does look good on you. 😉💗🙌🏼🙌🏼 #grateful #happy #grappy ☺️
