Meet the team! We are so grateful to officially welcome @linedanceluke to the Bootleg team.
Luke Nelson (he/him) is an interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, teacher, and dancer invested in movement as healing for marginalized bodies, particularly queer and trans bodies like his own. He explores this through several forms of dance, utilizing Contact Improvisation, improvisational scores, postmodern dance, and country line dance as his research. In 2022 Luke received his B.A. in Dance from the UCLA World Arts & Cultures/Dance department with a primary focus in Creative Inquiry as Research. In 2023 Luke joined the LA Wranglers and dove in headfirst, performing at events such as Stagecoach, Sundance Stompede, and Disney Pride Nite, and in 2024 became co-dance captain. Luke has also performed in several music videos and is both a line dance teacher and DJ at various queer country events across LA and Long Beach.

This month we are so happy to be back at @boomtownbrewery - twice! Once for our dear friend @ben.i.ginsburg ‘s birthday and a fun @thelawranglers collab night and again for our monthly party. This month is millennial themed, so get ready for dressing up and requesting your favorite songs from the 00’s for us to swap.
We are excited to be in Long Beach twice this month. Once at @lbpride collaborating with @djrickdominguez and once at @watchme_sportsbar for our monthly party that’s also @pitbulldancer ‘s birthday!
We’ll also be at @everybodylosangeles@siblinglosangeles space teaching Bootleg for Beginners classes.
@abadocious00 and @lyssakemi are there on the first and third Friday of the month from 7-8pm. If you’re just starting out, it’s a great place to get your boots wet before heading out to the dance hall.

We had so much fun hosting our queer country dance retreat in Ojai back in November, so we are throwing another day of line dance workshops and an evening bash for queer folks and allies this spring!
Beginner, intermediate and advanced phrased workshops all day PLUS an evening of social dancing with partner lessons!
Come for the day / come for the evening / come for the weekend and go on a hike, swim in a river, ride a horse, look at the pinkest sunset you’ll ever see. Make it a party!
