“Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” John Muir knew a thing or two 🌳 #feelstudies
Lunes, 5 de Mayo 2025 - On our 7 year anniversary at 2pm, Dan and I got hitched at the courthouse of Santa Barbara with four friends and a dog as witnesses. It was simple and beautiful, followed by margaritas and a rowdy little afterparty I hardly remember but heard a local bluegrass band played our first dance 😅 Sending love to our family and friends; all who have seen us through to this moment in our lives. We miss you and will celebrate next time we see you! This is an invitation to reach out and catch up until then.
Thank you @shannonjeantierney , @thtierney , @emmarube & @austinzward for being the best witnesses/photographers/outfitters/stylists/dog wranglers/partygoers.
And our fairy god-flower mothers: @dr.robz & @flemberly 🌸
A dispatch from Palm Springs in late May to celebrate Tim, call in Summer and marvel at Shannon’s growing belly. Diners, crossword puzzles, slow afternoons, cactus gardens, cocktails, good dinners, bad Italian and lots of crass jokes. I’ve always loved being a third wheel to these two and I know Tiny Tierney will love it even more 🤍
Alma’s Cider & Beer, your favorite neighborhood bar with the largest cider selection in the US (and likely the world 🌎)
📸 Thank you @linacaro for the cool shot!

Feeling nostalgic 🌒 Memories from the last solar eclipse on Aug 18, 2017 in Logan Square. Will share photos I took today on the next one: Aug 23, 2044 🙃
A year ago today we brought home this scrappy little mutt— not without a lot of deliberation and prior to that, telling Dan I would “only look” at a holiday adoption event.
She came into my life as my friend Miguel and my grandmother’s health were both declining. I spent much of January in and out of depressive spells. I’m not sure raising a puppy made any of that easier but we named her Lucha (“fight”) and that became my personal reminder to keep going when my loved ones could not.
Ironically, Lucha can be easily frightened, refusing to move forward if something doesn’t seem right to her. I quickly discovered that the way I spoke to her in those moments was the way I spoke to myself. And so, this has been a year of learning what it sounds like to speak gently and express compassion— to her but also myself. Gracias, Luchita 🤍
This season of holidays brings up complicated feelings for me, especially thanksgiving. Then last year my Grandma Belen fell ill and was unable to be with us for our thanksgiving meal. The following day, it got worse and that pattern continued on for months. But she is a fighter and stubborn like the women who have come before me. It’s been a year now since her health took a turn and with that, many of the traditions we’ve had with her also changed. These days my mom, sister and I take turns pampering her best we can. I have no silver-lining to share here. But I know that this season can feel heavy with grief and if that’s true for you, you are not alone.
