It’s been a challenging start to the year; personally and collectively. And as I embarked on the Argo Art Residency in Athens, returning to my Greek roots, I was forced to face loss on multiple levels and I was reminded of a Greek expression : Όταν η ζωή βαραίνει, δεν σταματάς - χορεύεις - ‘When life grows heavy, you don’t stop - you dance’. As Nikos Kazantzakis wrote through Zorba, when the knot inside becomes too tight for words… you dance until it loosens. Η ζωή είναι δύσκολη, μα η ψυχή χορεύει. Life is difficult, but the soul dances. And another Greek line I love: Να χορεύεις στο χείλος της αβύσσου. Dance on the edge of the abyss. So here’s to moving through the uncertainty we are all facing, with tenderness to self & others; facing the daily challenges & remembering to laugh; letting the body speak where words fall short, and trusting that creativity finds its way through. Thank you to Argos Arts & to all my fellow luminary artists @ornat_lempert @maemougin_artworld @hugh_greasley @bobisman1202 @argo_annex Thank you Susanne for the filming 😘 #Athens #DanceThroughIt #ArgoResidency #ContemporaryDance #ArtResidency #Movement

Decided to take a time lapse showing the long and tedious process of glueing all of these stamps together as a way to remove my phone as a distraction, but then lost about two and a half hours of the best glueing footage from the middle of these two clips cos my phone ran out of storage … tears were shed 🤕 and now my fingers are glued together

Just over a month has passed since the inaugural Liminal Matters Exhibition in East London. Here are some more memories of our exhibiting artists' work. Clockwise from top-left. @andiehaycock abstract sculpture use innovative sledging techniques to create works that reframe Brutalism's relationship with nature. @nikki.holy pushes the limits of what is possible with plaster forms that defy gravity and teeter on the edge of stability. @annabutlerceramics vessels that fuse poetry, film and ceramics together with vessels that nod to the past while looking to the future. @z.i.x.u.a.n.zhang 3D printed works that juxtapose the ancient and bodily to the contemporary and technological.

Clockwise from top-left @maemougin_art - detail of cast glass shell in blue and gold. @leahsbrainpain - section of contemporary reworking of traditional encaustic tile floor in red and white Earthenware. @jota.zone - reimagining of heavily degraded classical Greek statues in ceramic and silicone. @kurtlyons.studio - abstract/landscape hybrids of photography and painting.
