It’s been a challenging start to the year; personally and collectively. And as I embarked on the Argo Art Residency in Athens, returning to my Greek roots, I was forced to face loss on multiple levels and I was reminded of a Greek expression : Όταν η ζωή βαραίνει, δεν σταματάς - χορεύεις - ‘When life grows heavy, you don’t stop - you dance’.
As Nikos Kazantzakis wrote through Zorba, when the knot inside becomes too tight for words… you dance until it loosens. Η ζωή είναι δύσκολη, μα η ψυχή χορεύει. Life is difficult, but the soul dances.
And another Greek line I love: Να χορεύεις στο χείλος της αβύσσου.
Dance on the edge of the abyss.
So here’s to moving through the uncertainty we are all facing, with tenderness to self & others; facing the daily challenges & remembering to laugh; letting the body speak where words fall short, and trusting that creativity finds its way through.
Thank you to Argos Arts & to all my fellow luminary artists @ornat_lempert@maemougin_artworld@hugh_greasley@bobisman1202@argo_annex
Thank you Susanne for the filming 😘

Artists Residency in Athens to study “Tamas” in pencil, plaster & wax to cast in glass. Thank You @argo_annex and The Royal College of Art @rcaceramicandglassalumni for this magical opportunity to be in Greece 🇬🇷
Decided to take a time lapse showing the long and tedious process of glueing all of these stamps together as a way to remove my phone as a distraction, but then lost about two and a half hours of the best glueing footage from the middle of these two clips cos my phone ran out of storage … tears were shed 🤕 and now my fingers are glued together
Optical Experiments with light continued….winter sunlight reflected off glass captured & speeded up throughout the day revealing the underlying Geometry of Light ✨✨✨#natasharedina #stainedglass #rca #glass #light
