More memories from the Liminal Matters Exhibition held last month in East London.
Some installation shots from some of our exhibiting artists. Clockwise from top-left.
@justray_0421 colossal hand-built ceramic structures that transport you to a dream-like world.
@aescala glass sculptures that explore the quantum realm.
@dean.hollowood sculptures that push the idea balance to its extreme.
@annamatthew.art domestic design that invites introspection to discover a new form of communication.
As the exhibition coordinator & co-curator of @liminal_matters , alongside the incredible @jota.zone who has curated our online presence - it was a real honour for us to invite in Dr Gillian McIver, @the_art_traveller to join us as a guest curator. She is an Artist, Author, Art Historian & Filmmaker among other things. Her perspective brought a unique dimension to the work, and if you missed it, you can read the fascinating talk she delivered last night through the link below. She also chaired an interesting discussion today with four artists from our collective. @leahsbrainpain@aescala@z.i.x.u.a.n.zhang@miyukiguo
It has been a joy to welcome different voices into this space, and we are excited to continue shaping and growing this project and inviting in future collaborations. If you are interested please do follow @liminal_matters and get in touch.

And just like that, my time at @rcaceramicsandglass as a student is over…
What an incredible year I have had! A year filled with material exploration, academic rigour and most importantly of all, time to think!
I have loved every moment of this academic journey. To anyone considering whether they should embark on an MA, my advice would be DO IT!! You won’t be sorry!

Introducing our artist roster.
From the top.
@aescala delves into the quantum realm to extract inspiration for his glass sculptures.
@marijselceramics reframes botanical study as a source of introspective resilience.
@leahsbrainpain updates historical craft practices to preserve personal stories and domestic ritual.
All these artists exploit the space that exists between art and other subjects (science, botany and history), to make work that is positioned in the liminality of material-led practice.

Loki’s Feast is a collaboration with Anthony Scala. We are delighted that this piece is part of The Art of Craft, an exceptional auction partnered by London Glassblowing and Bonhams. Bringing together important works by pioneering artists alongside those by London Glassblowing artists, this is an unmissable opportunity to acquire extraordinary works that define the glass art movement.
The auction can be viewed both online and at Bonhams Knightsbridge location from 13-22 May.

Meet Anthony Scala
Anthony Scala’s introduction to glass started at the age of eight after a visit to London Glassblowing.
Initially trained as an architectural model maker, Anthony returned to his passion for glass in 1999, completing an apprenticeship under the mentorship of Peter Layton. Since then, his work has blended technical mastery with a fascination for light, refractive components, and optical illusions.
By carefully layering refractive materials, Anthony creates pieces that challenge and distort the viewer’s perception, turning simple glass into a mesmerising optical experience.
He has become a highly regarded practitioner in the field of coldworking and has taught at the Royal College of Art, where he is now furthering his expertise through an MA in Ceramics and Glass.
