Small businesses are where my heart is. I’m not a big ‘consumer’ in general— I live pretty simply and don’t care about status symbols like big houses or fancy cars. What starts my creative fire is when I can help hard-working small business owners feel even more proud of what they do. My clients are experts at what they do, and I’m an expert at what I do. I used to do this…🤷‍♀️There are many reasons it’s a bad idea, but here are 3 big ones: 1️⃣ A logo is just one piece of your branding. And a successful brand is consistent: color use, fonts, image styles and more are a part of your marketing. 2️⃣ I don’t want my clients brands to look DIY. Consumers are savvy, and they will quickly overlook unprofessional or confusing products or services and opt for ones that instill a sense of professionalism and trust, and feel legit. 3️⃣ My goal is to remove the obstacle of not having professionally designed branding for small businesses, so my clients can focus on building their business (and feel extra proud of what they are offering to the world!). I took my parents and son to get yummy brunch @pinkivymn and to see some of my branding work —and in the short time we were there, I witnessed some impromptu brand advocacy… TWO different couples posed in front of the mural by @kada_creative after their meals. Lemme back up: I worked with Pink Ivy to create their brand’s look and feel (logo, color palette, signage, menus etc) and Kada brought it to life in the space with a custom mural. We’ve tag teamed on a dozen or so other businesses, and this effect is consistent. Having a mural creates an opportunity for your customers to become PART of the experience. And guess what they’re gonna do next? Share it. TAG YOU. Because it’s cool and beautiful and moved them enough to want to be seen with this art, in your space, already flying high on the happy hormones your food, beverage or service has stirred up. Got a note today that my Save the BWCA print raised $835 at the recent @savethebwca gala and was a popular item. 🤯🥰 I made this piece as a personal way to honor this sacred place and I am so touched that it’s resonating with others. One of the magical things about art and design is how they can connect us, and make an idea or a place or a mission feel tangible. Huge thanks to Save the Boundary Waters for the work they do to continue to fight the threat to this amazing and pristine wilderness. ❤️🚣‍♀️🌊🌲

This one’s a shullet on me, Liina- the branding partner and social media manager for Hello Hair (hi, it’s @liinaco ) and every step mattered. Not just a cut + partial foil. I genuinely love sauna. Not as a trend, but as an essential part of my life. So getting to work on another one of these felt like a gift. This one’s for a couple bringing sauna culture to Indianapolis in a fresh way. Early to it. Setting the tone. Not trying to borrow a coastal vibe, just taking what works and making it their own. The vibe is BLISS. Sun, water, warmth… but grounded. Simple. Something that feels good to look at and easy to use wherever it shows up. And as always: Not just a logo. A brand that makes sense right away and holds up over time.
