May 17 marks #IDAHOBIT (the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia). A day to stand together against discrimination and celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. 🏳️‍🌈   While progress has been made, there is still important work to do to ensure every person feels safe and respected.   🌈 In 2025, LGBTQIA+ people were less likely to be out at work than they were in 2022. 🌈 Two in three LGBTQIA+ young people experience abuse because of their identity. 🌈 35% of LGBTQIA+ Australians have experienced verbal abuse in the past 12 months.   In FY 24/25, of all the young people supported, 10% identified as LGBTQIA+. Lighthouse Foundation stands with the LGBTQIA+ community and remains committed to creating spaces where every young person feels safe, seen, and supported. 🧡

We’ve just received a very exciting delivery from @skope_refrigeration 👀   At Lighthouse, we’re working on an important new initiative designed to support our young people and wider community, helping ensure access to food is always within reach.   This fridge is set to play a meaningful role in what’s to come… any guesses what it might be used for?

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers and special women in our Lighthouse community. 🧡   Since 2010, Lighthouse has proudly supported vulnerable young mothers to build safe, nurturing relationships with their babies through our Young Parents & Babies Program.   The program provides a vital lifeline for young parents and children at risk of intimate partner violence, offering therapeutic care within Lighthouse homes to help families heal from trauma, strengthen healthy attachment, and establish stable routines together.   In FY24/25, we supported 6 young mums and 8 bubs aged 0–2 across multiple homes.   We are continually inspired by the strength, resilience, and dedication of the young parents in our care as they work to break cycles of intergenerational trauma and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.   To all the mothers in our community, we celebrate you and the love, care, and courage you bring to those around you. Happy Mother’s Day. 💐

We would like to acknowledge the meaningful support @larita_academy has extended to our young people and warmly congratulate the Larita Graduates of 2026. 🧡 Larita Academy is an intensive training program for at-risk young people in Victoria, designed to spark entrepreneurial ambition and create pathways to employment and opportunity. Our Manager of Youth & Family Services, Ben, shares: "Larita Academy offers far more than employment pathways. It offers belief, connection, and possibility. The opportunities and ongoing alumni support that young people receive have a lasting impact on their lives and the wider community." A heartfelt thank you to Larry, Anita, Jen, and the incredible coaches for your compassion, belief, and commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of our young people. You created a space where they felt safe to be challenged, supported to take risks, and inspired to imagine stronger possibilities for themselves and their futures.

GlobeWest is proud to partner with the Australian charity Lighthouse Foundation to support their vision to end youth homelessness. Recently, members of our team came together to support the children living in a Lighthouse home, volunteering their time to build a cubby house, play kitchen and trampoline. Alongside this, we hosted a beautiful morning tea, where we had the privilege of hearing firsthand from Susan, Carlos and Jo about their meaningful involvement with the Lighthouse Foundation. We sat down with Susan Barton, Founder of Lighthouse Foundation, to gain a deeper understanding of how the organisation is working to help end youth homelessness. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at @globewest for transforming the outdoor space at one of our Young Parents & Babies homes.   From assembling and painting a beautiful cubby house, complete with a play kitchen, to installing a trampoline for the children, these thoughtful additions have created a warm and welcoming place for young families to spend time together.   It’s these details that help turn a house into a home, offering our young people a safe and nurturing environment to connect with their children.   We’re incredibly grateful for GLOBEWEST’s ongoing support and the genuine care and compassion they continue to show our community.

We’re incredibly grateful to @propertyindustryfoundation , @kaneconstructions and @growthpoint_properties for their generous support in refurbishing one of our Eastside homes. With Property Industry Foundation having stood alongside Lighthouse for more than a decade, this is a powerful example of what can be achieved when long-term partners come together to create safe, therapeutic environments for young people.   Thanks to their partnership, the home is being thoughtfully updated, including the kitchen, bathrooms and living spaces, to create a welcoming and supportive environment for the children and young people who will call it home.   We’re deeply thankful for the care and commitment our supporters show. It’s because of you that our young people can access safe, therapeutic homes where healing and stability can begin.

Lighthouse is proud to support the Home Time campaign, as we are joining the call for action this week.   Home Time is asking supporters across the country to help show the strong community backing for fixing the Youth Housing Penalty and ensuring young people experiencing homelessness can access safe, affordable housing.   We’re encouraging our community of staff, supporters, partners and friends to head to the Home Time website and add your voice. The campaign is urging the Government to include a targeted Youth Housing Supplement in the 2026-27 Federal Budget, helping to close the rental gap that currently prevents many young people from accessing available homes.   Show your support, it only takes 30 seconds.   🔗 link in bio.

We’re incredibly grateful to be attending the @women_deliver conference, where we have the opportunity to spotlight our work supporting young women who are escaping or at risk of early forced marriage, modern slavery, and domestic servitude through our Young Women’s Freedom program. It’s been an incredibly meaningful experience connecting with organisations and advocates across different sectors, all working toward a future of gender equity. You can find us at the @genderequityvic stall, so please come by and say hello. We’d love to connect and share more about our work. We also warmly invite you to join us at Open Ground. Our Therapeutic Case Manager, Masuma, will be sharing insights into our critical work tomorrow at 3:30pm. Tickets are free and open to all. 🔗 link in bio.

Thank you to our valued partner @rotarymelbourne for the generous donation of $20,000 to enable us to evaluate our Model of Care across one or more Lighthouse programs.   Evaluations like these are crucial as they enable us to show the positive impact of our work, and also make improvements to strengthen our programs further. 🧡

A passionate team from @jelliscraigfndn , Adam, Damian, Xena, Senem, and Maulik, rolled up their sleeves in our Young Parents & Babies home. In the sunshine, they refreshed the gardens with colourful new flower beds, assembled furniture, and cooked nourishing meals which will be frozen and stored.   Their care and generosity helped our home feel bright, welcoming, and truly loved. We are so grateful for the practical and heartfelt ways Jellis Craig Foundation continues to show up for the young people and children of Lighthouse, reminding them how deeply valued and supported they are. 🧡
