The System is Broken: 90% of young creatives are worried about income stability. But despite the struggles, 44% of young creatives still dream of a creative career. Our new research with @mpbcom reveals the stark truth: the cost of living and lack of access are silencing the next generation of creative talent. 85% can’t even afford the basic equipment they need. It’s time to move beyond short-term fixes. It's not a skills gap, it’s an access gap. And we’re fixing it through #PATHWAYSNOTPROJECTS. Our partnership with @mpbcom is dismantling barriers by putting resources and decision-making directly into the hands of the young people who need it most. Together, we're building long-term #PATHWAYSNOTPROJECTS for the creative leaders of tomorrow. The next generation are ready... are you? Join the movement.🔗 Link in bio to read the full findings 👉🏽 📽️ Video by Levvy @channellevvy , one of our Future Creative Leaders. GO BACK AND GET IT: EXPLORING SANKOFA What happens when a generation chooses to look back, not with nostalgia, but with purpose? Led by researcher and cultural strategist Fez Sibanda, this live inquiry explores what wisdom has been left behind, what tools already exist, and what it means to activate hope and not just hold it. Joining the conversation: ✨ @mikaelaloach - activist, author and campaigner for climate and racial justice ✨ @joycelynlongdon - environmental justice technologist, writer and founder of Climate in Colour ✨ @thenameisnaiya - local storyteller and community leader Together with young voices from Brighton's grassroots creative communities, they'll explore inheritance, imagination and the courage to reimagine - live, in dialogue with the room. Through collective writing and audience contribution, we’ll create a living manifesto: a declaration of intent, shaped in the moment by the people in the room. The writings will be on the wall. Literally. 🗓️ Monday 25 May 2026 ⏱️ Doors 1.30 PM & Event 2 - 3.30 PM 📍 Brighton Dome Studio Theatre 🎟️ £5 - booking required - link in bio 🔥 Part of our Future Creative Leaders (FCL), We, Generate programme for Brighton Festival 2026. @brightonfestival 💫 Many thanks to our funders & partners @weareinnovateuk Chalk Cliff Trust, @sussexcommunityfoundation @enjoolatafoundation and @brightonfestival #WeGenerate #BrightonFestival #Sankofa #BrightonDome #YouthLed

Back in March, we began reimagining the world, creating space to think boldly, dream bigger, and explore what becomes possible when ideas are turned into action. CTRL///ALT was part panel, part interactive lab: bringing together university research, us as a local arts charity, and a community of people doing truly interesting work. This reimagining continues this week with CTRL/ALT-ESCAPE: Building Around the Artist — a unique panel discussion with a Brighton-based artist and the team around him. Offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to build an artist project outside the traditional music industry model. The conversation will unpack creativity, infrastructure, and independence. We’ll explore what it means to design systems around the artist and not the other way around. 🗓️ Weds 13 May 2026 ⏱️ Doors 6PM & Event 6.30 - 8 PM 📍The Old Market @tomvenue BN3 1AS 🎟️ £5 - booking required - link in bio 🔥 Part of our Future Creative Leaders (FCL), We, Generate programme for Brighton Festival 2026. 💫 Many thanks to our funders & partners @weareinnovateuk Chalk Cliff Trust, @sussexcommunityfoundation @enjoolatafoundation @brightonfestival and @tomvenue #RenMakesMusic #IndependentArtist #FutureCreativeLeaders #BrightonFestival #ArtistDevelopment 📽️Film of CTRL///ALT shot by @jrzcrts @zarik_cross02 & @jamesesfilms

Introducing your team for @Your Service this Saturday at Brighton Youth Centre for @brightonfestival 2026. Jordan Stephens is an artist, author, performer and mental health advocate whose work has consistently opened up space for more honest conversations about masculinity, mental health, creativity and care. Many people will know him from @rizzlekicks but today we’re also holding the full arc of his work: from Brighton youth music spaces and AudioActive, through IAMWHOLE. Jordan joins us as someone whose life and work asks a question at the heart of this event: when the systems around us fall short, what does it really mean to be held? @jordanfstephens Kaia Allen-Bevan is an award-winning advocate, entrepreneur, and creative, dedicated to social justice and educational reform. Since 2019 (age 16), she has led racial justice and anti-racism work, co-organising Brighton’s BLM demonstrations and founding @officialbrightonblm . Her TEDx talk was featured in Forbes Morocco for its “global impact.” She is Director of Engagement and Impact at Edge Of Difference and was named Brighton Girl of the Year 2025. She founded YouthTheGapCIC in 2024, earning multiple awards @kaia.ab @youththegap Bobby Brown is a cultural leader and digital innovator working across technology, youth development, and the arts. With over a decade of experience, he focuses on equity, community-led change, and access to creative opportunities. As Programme Lead for Future Creative Leaders at Lighthouse, he has designed programmes that centre youth voice, decentralise leadership, and open pathways into creative industries. @btsbobby @ Your Service 🗓️ Saturday, 9 May 2026 ⏱️ Doors 3 PM & Event 4 - 6 PM 📍Brighton Youth Centre 🎟️ £5 - booking required - link in bio 🔥 Part of our Future Creative Leaders (FCL), We, Generate programme for Brighton Festival 2026. 💫 Many thanks to our funders & partners @weareinnovateuk Chalk Cliff Trust, @sussexcommunityfoundation @enjoolatafoundation , @brightonfestival , and @BrightonYouthCentre . #BrightonFestival #BrightonYouth #JordanStephens #Community #Brighton

What does it really mean to feel supported? 🤍 Join us for an honest, open conversation about community, care, and lived experience; featuring artist, author & mental health advocate @jordanfstephens , alongside voices from Brighton’s creative community. This isn’t a panel you watch. It’s one you’re part of. After the discussion, the room breaks into smaller conversations facilitated by young people from our Future Creative Leaders programme. Bring your questions, your stories, and your truth. 📅 Saturday 9th May, 4–6PM (Doors 3PM) 📍 Brighton Youth Centre 🎟️ £5 | Booking required: link in @lighthouse_btn bio Age 14+ welcome #events #brighton #jordanstephens #panel #youth

Join us for a unique panel discussion bringing together a Brighton-based global artist and the team around them. The event offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at what it really means to build an artist project outside of the traditional music industry model. As the industry continues to accelerate, artists are expected to be everywhere at once - touring, promoting, creating, and showing up. But for some, that model simply does not fit. This conversation explores what happens when perceived limitations lead to new systems, and when the response is not to force the artist into the existing structure, but to build a new one around them. Through honest dialogue, the artist and the team will unpack how they have built their own infrastructure across the project. Alongside the practical realities of running an independent creative operation, the panel will also explore how care can be embedded into the work rather than added as an afterthought, and how the industry should evolve to support artists as whole people, not just as output. We’re inviting industry professionals, creatives, and audiences alike to rethink what support really looks like and to consider how access, care, creativity, and infrastructure can be built into the same system. Part of our Future Creative Leaders (FCL), We, Generate programme for Brighton Festival 2026. Featuring live events, conversations, and a youth takeover, it’s a space for experimentation and community. 📅 Wednesday, 13 May 2026 🕐 Doors: 6 PM. Event: 6.30-8 PM 📍 The Old Market, Hove, BN3 1AS Tickets: £5. Booking Required. Age: 14+ Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and will be allocated a wristband and/or sticker at check-in. 💫 Many thanks to our funders & partners @weareinnovateuk Chalk Cliff Trust, @sussexcommunityfoundation @enjoolatafoundation @brightonfestival @tomvenue #BrightonFestival #YouthEmpowerment #MusicProducer #CtrlAlt #GreatEscape
