I recently sat down with Niko from @ytg_bespoke to chat about all things photography, business, quitting my 9-5 and so many other topics! 😊 We chatted for so long that we had to split it up into two parts, both of which are now live on YTG’s YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. The thing I struggled most with when I started car photography wasn’t camera gear or photo editing, it was not knowing enough freakin angles haha 😅 It was so frustrating and it took me a long time to develop my “car photography vision”. If you’re currently struggling as well, here’s a few angles that you can copy on your next shoot. It’s not often that I feel the limitations of my APS-C gear, but shooting at night and shooting motorsport are the two situations that come to mind. In this shoot with @lucaz_gt I was just really struggling with the low light performance on my a6700, especially when pushing the ISO up. I managed to still do ok thanks to an f1.4 lens and shooting at a slower shutter speed, but I know if I was on full frame it’d be much easier 😅 Despite the drawbacks though, I feel so comfortable on APS-C, have learned how to get the best out of it, and love the small form factor when I’m travelling 😊 I’ll definitely upgrade to full frame at some point, but for now, in a world of “buy, buy, buy”, I’m just happy with what I have 😌 that might sound a bit contradictory because I was just complaining about the limitations, but I’m happy with the results at the end of the day. … Need help to level up your photo editing? Here’s a few of the photos that I captured from my quick day trip to @speedseriesau in Philip Island 🙂 Didn’t have chance to shoot very much and I was definitely on the back foot because of some other commitments prior to this, so I’m not super happy with these shots 😅 but hey, it’s all part of the journey so I thought I’d share them anyway as a way of letting you know that it’s ok to share your work even if you’re not where you want to be yet. That’s a wrap on a great weekend shooting @speedseriesau at @thebendmotorsportpark 😊 I got to test out my new @dji Osmo Action 6 and my @sigmaphotoaustralia 17-40mm f1.8, they are both epic! And I finally tried out shooting on film too. I got myself a 1979 Olympus OM-2n and some rolls of film from @ilfordimaging , really enjoyed the process! Very grateful for the opportunity to shoot this event and I can’t wait to share all the images and videos soon 🙂 … All photos shot on my phone and editing in Lightroom Mobile using my presets. Still a long way for me to go before I’m where I want to be with motorsport photography, but I’m always insanely grateful for the opportunities that I get to work with @speedseriesau 🫶 There’s nothing better than putting on the media vest and pushing hard to capture the best possible photos in challenging situations 😊 Each time I do it, I learn a little more especially from other photographers around me.
