Back in March Lifefabs’s Co-Founder @w112233442 fabricated skulls to provide hands-on simulation and surgical training for brain surgery🧠in Spain.
Keep up with our researcher’s work at Lifefabs and come say hi and hear more from them at our next event or open house! 🥼
Some moments from Lifefabs Open Lab Night.
Last Friday, we celebrated the opening of our new space in Dalston, marking a new chapter for Lifefabs. It was a chance to welcome our growing community into the lab and celebrate the people who made this space possible.
Thank you to everyone who came, supported, and helped make the evening so special ✨️

Earth Day feels like a good moment to look at what’s on our shelves
At Lifefabs, the shelves hold a growing collection of material samples developed by researchers in the lab. This includes bacterial cellulose, mycelium, and a range of bio-based composites
Lifefabs was founded to create an open and inclusive space for learning, making, and experimentation with biological materials.
These materials reflect ongoing research in the lab and point towards the potential of alternative material approaches
Happy Earth Day from Lifefabs 🌱
We’ve been keeping busy teaching our 68 students @lifefabs as part of the MIT/Harvard’s Synthetic Biology Course: How to Grow Almost Anything. 🧬 @howtogrowalmostanything@communitybiotech@mitmedialab
This was the first round of the DNA gel art using our Opentrons @opentronslabworks liquid handling robots 🤖using E.coli engineered to express proteins and GFP. 🧫
Keep up to date with our future labs, courses and workshops through our Instagram and Eventbrite. (in our bio) 🥼
Lifefabs hosted a microbial weaving workshop with @from_lotte and @akirhall on 23 March
Participants learned how to grow and weave yarn made from bacterial cellulose, exploring its potential as a bio-based fibre for future textile and fashion practices. The workshop moved through growing, and weaving the material, opening up new ways of working with living systems
Thank you to everyone who joined us
If you missed this one, @akirhall will be hosting a mycelium leather workshop on the 22nd of April
