📣Special Announcement📣: LibroMobile is hosting a literary series at 1st Saturday Artwalk!
In partnership with & sponsored by @thefridacinema & @dtsantaana , we are hosting a series of 3 events with the LAST ONE on June 6th 7:30-8:30pm — Contemporary Blacksmithing for Beginners by Joy Fire!
Featuring A Book Release & Blacksmith Demo:
🎉Joy has been working with metal for more than 14 years. She runs a blacksmithing and metal fabrication shop where she takes commissions and forges her own designs. Her work is meant to be a gift to you. Each object honors the physicality of existence and offers the opportunity to be reminded of and grounded in your physical self through tactile interaction.
As a teacher Joy focuses on ergonomics and thoughtful design. Guiding her students to learn how to think like a blacksmith. Her passion for sharing blacksmithing with everyone led to the writing of her first book, Contemporary Blacksmithing for Beginners, which she hopes you will enjoy.
Joy also teaches welding at Orange Coast College and serves on the Governance Committee of the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths, an organization dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in blacksmithing.

About our host: A Santa Ana native, Reggie Peralta has many interests but they usually lead him back to writing. He has contributed book and film criticism for LibroMobile and The Grindhouse Cinema Database, political editorials for the Libertarian Party of Orange County’s blog, and publishes short stories and poetry on Substack at Reggie The Writer. In 2023, his short story “The Katzenjammer Crisis” was published in Santa Ana Literary Association’s Zoo-Fi: an Anthology of Zoological Fiction. While his writing spans many genres and subjects, his general sensibility can be summed up as “funny, but somehow also kinda sad”.

On the shelves now: “Voice Over: The Making of Black Radio” by William Barlow.
📚✨In Voice Over, a celebration and history, William Barlow explores the landscape of black radio from the early days - when the white public accepted the black-face buffoonery of The Amos and Andy Show and Beulah as a fair depiction of African American life - to the rise of personality jocks and the contemporary scene of corporate buyouts and uncertain fate.
