Hombre en Armadura de Oro,
watercolor on paper, 11.5” x 16”, 1948
The first of four curated exhibitions at Crear Studio features archives, photo images, and paintings from O’Cádiz’s childhood through the early 1960s.
Subsequent exhibitions at Irvine Fine Arts Center and Cerritos College Art Gallery chronologically follow his artistic development. Digital archives made public online include a virtual timeline, a public art map, and an online repository of the artist’s work, presenting little-known insights and stories about his life and career, as shared by the artist’s family.
A year-long series of retrospective exhibitions featuring Sergio O’Cádiz Moctezuma’s personal archives, paintings, and ephemera, and which include digital documentation of ongoing preservation efforts. These initiatives are led by community-based archivists and art institutions working in collaboration with the O’Cádiz family. This public digital humanities project, initiated and co-curated with Sarah Rafael García of Crear Studio, includes solo exhibitions at three art venues throughout 2026.
