Beginning May 5th, Casa de Luz will be introducing weekly specials.
Each week, a limited number of sessions will be available during select time slots, offering more flexibility for those navigating time or financial constraints.
These offerings are created to expand access to the work, not to change its value.
Every session, regardless of when it’s booked holds the same level of care, presence, and intention.
Weekly spaces are limited and will rotate, so availability and services will vary from week to week.
If you’ve been wanting to experience Casa de Luz and have been waiting for the right moment, this is an opportunity to step in.
Booking is now open.
With gratitude,
Elayne

SOROCHE ( @sorochemusic ) is a Baltimore-based, DC born band that mixes cumbia, ska, punk and folk, incorporating traditional Colombian percussion like the tambora (the heartbeat of cumbia) along with poetic lyrics and multi-instrumental melodies, and proudly wearing their cultural roots on their sleeves. SOROCHE seeks to represent the immigrant experience by transmogrifying modern and traditional sounds into a danceable alchemy that crosses cultural borders and dancefloors.
Growing up between Medellín and DC, SOROCHE’s founder and songwriter, Richard Benjumea, always felt trapped in a cultural purgatory; never fully belonging to any one country. He found as much comfort in his parents’ cumbia and vallenato, as he did in the punk and ska he would later discover in his teenage years. Looking for an outlet to mix all these sounds together, he found like-minded musical misfits hailing from Colombia, Mexico, Honduras, Argentina, Bolivia and the US.
De aquí y de allá, SOROCHE was born.
The band features Richard on guitar and vocals, Demetrio Batiste on trumpet, Diego Castañeda on percussion, Bill Dempsey on keys, Aaron Gibian on drums, Gabriel Lora on sax, Sebastian Ochoa on bass, and Matt Perrone on guitar.
Don’t miss SOROCHE live at Cueva de la Cumbia alongside Yeison Landero and La Bodoquita May 8 at Library Nineteen.

I’ve learned that the best kind of self-care isn’t loud or performative—it’s the kind that quietly brings you back to yourself. ✨
I recently experienced a session at Casa de Luz, and what stayed with me wasn’t just how relaxed I felt, but how grounded and clear I felt afterward. It created space in a way that’s hard to explain until you feel it for yourself. If your body has been carrying more than it should, this is something worth experiencing.
At Casa de Luz, beauty is not separate from your wellbeing. It’s a reflection of it. 🪞
Each session is designed to support your mind, body, spirit, and skin—
blending licensed esthetics with energy healing, breathwork, meditation, and somatic touch.
Not as a trend, but as a response to what happens when the nervous system is finally given permission to rest.
Every session begins with breath.
Every session ends with you feeling more present in your body than when you walked in.
Located inside @library_nineteen in the heart of Fell’s Point,
@_lacasadeluz is a space where beauty, art, and healing live together—intentionally.
If you are like me a need that break but don’t often take it, here is a reason to book a session and take advantage of a special offer:
✨ First Visit Ritual: The Grounded Facial
Originally $250, now $199 for first-time guests!
If you’ve been craving a place to quiet the noise and receive care… this is your invitation.

Yeison Landero ( @yeisonlandero ) grandson of the legendary Andrés Landero, was just 7 when his abuelo first put an accordion in his hands. Raised among parrandas filled with maestros like Alfredo Gutiérrez, Lizandro Meza, and Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Yeison inherited not just the melodies but the humility and soul of the sabanero sound.
Today, Yeison is keeping that flame alive on stages across the world. A Latin Grammy–nominated artist, he bridges past and future, honoring his grandfather’s legacy while giving cumbia new life for the 21st century. His first album, Landero Vive, wasn’t just a tribute, era una promesa : Andrés Landero’s spirit vive in every breath of Yeison’s accordion and every time a dance floor erupts in cumbia.

Meet us on 4/25 at @library_nineteen for Sonicity: An Experience for the Culture
Yes, you read that right! We’re back! So pull up 🖤✨
Curated by Nyx Davis, this interactive talk features live demos by @afr0delic and @museofire , followed by an immersive communal dance moving through five decades of Black American music.
Presented in partnership with @blackartistresearchspace , the program traces connections from the soulful rhythms of the 1950s to the experimental sounds of the 2000s, and how those innovations continue to shape sound today.

There are moments when someone enters a space not just to experience it…but to meet themselves within it.
Meet Femi. A man whose path has moved through many worlds from the intensity of the NFL, to becoming a Super Bowl champion, to walking the hallways of institutions like Johns Hopkins, Wharton, and Harvard. His journey is one of discipline, evolution, and expansion.
And beyond the titles and accomplishments…there is a deeper layer.
A curiosity.A willingness to explore.A devotion to growth that goes beyond the external and into the internal.
@obafemi30 has lived a life rooted in excellence and now, in this 3-part docuseries, he steps into Casa de Luz to experience something different…something more subtle, more felt, more intimate.
This is a space where performance and achievement isn’t required of you, instead, we ask for presence, truth, and a willingness to surrender to meet what unfolds.
