An old riddle asks, how far can a dog run into a forest? The answer is, halfway, because after that he’s running out of the forest. This is not a truth about the world, but about the terms ‘into’, ‘out of’, and ‘halfway’, which we have devised.

Vivarium, 2023
I made this piece 3 years ago now and I finally got around to documenting it. I think a part of me was anxious to present something that incorporates the use of AI now knowing the dangers that come with it. That being said, its context and meaning has evolved and is more relevant than ever.
Vivarium is part of a series of works called Dog’s Plan which uses dogs as a blatant metaphor for capitalist American labor industries, particularly invested in fetishization and war.
The images of dogs licking you on the lenticular box were generated with an AI that specializes in creating lofi pornography. The cart was made from a wood crate from Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art and painted with a cracking paint method I developed.
These photos are cropped stills of a video that is going to be in the post-mortem Unda.m.93 (@unda.m.93 ) show ‘Stop Worshipping Corpses’ on December 21-January 25. Different versions of this video will also be screened at Singers NYC (@singersny ) on January 8th and probably Facets Chicago (@facetschicago ) sometime in January. This first version is around 10 minutes, and it does not have a title.
