It's not every day you get to make visual poetry with your best friends, take action to protect our sacred Mother Earth, and receive massive support to continue said initiatives in the hopes of creating a new and equitable future for humans on planet Earth 🌎🌿🌞
But today, Earth Day 2021, is that day my loves :) I am so honored to announce that @billabongwomens U.S. is donating a portion of today's sales up to $10,000 to @sea.and.soil !! Our little collective of surf growers and creatives is making waves and riding them all the way home, deep into a space of reciprocity with our environment and each other.
I can't thank my team of insanely creative humans enough for helping bring this vision to life - and even more so - in helping us continue our work to provide clean food and nature access to those who weren't born into the privileges so many of us often take for granted.

We’re so excited to announce the launch of our SoFlo chapter and the community garden at the heart of it is the @susanwhelchelgarden managed by @bocaurbangardens 🫶🏽
South Florida isn’t just where we’re going, it’s where we were planted. Our team grew up amongst the mangroves, the rain-soaked afternoons, the salt air, and the wildness that somehow persists between the concrete. This land has always cared for us, and we believe it’s time we organize around caring for her.
So now we return to cultivate community rooted in nature therapy, access to land and locally grown food, and the simple, radical act of belonging. We’re building a #thirdspace for those who feel most like themselves with their hands in the dirt or their feet in the sand. Because for those who get it, Sea + Soil isn’t just a backdrop—it’s the meeting point, the medicine, and the mission.
To mark our first official chapter event, we participated in the @bocaurbangardens Earth Day celebration at @susanwhelchelgarden in patentship with @citybocaraton which featured composting workshops, pollinator tours, native plant giveaways, food trucks, 🦪 restoration and more.
We can’t wait for what’s next. 🦋

A new season is upon us — meet our new co-founder, Andrea Poveda! 🌼🫶🏽✨🥹
When Andrea and S+S Founder, Lex Weinstein, first met through the World Surf League PURE Grant awarded to Sea + Soil in 2024, they shared so much more than just a love for the ocean.
They shared a cultural background, queer identity, and a way of moving through the world with passion, authenticity, and a determination to centralize deep community relationships at the heart of environmental work. 🤲🏽
Their prolific collaboration evolved quickly into a friendship and rapport of mutual respect, and over the next two years, Lex dreamed of one day finding a way to deepen their work together within Sea + Soil.
That dream became a reality so much sooner than expected when the concept of Impact Travel started to take shape. Andrea’s background managing global social and environmental impact programs at the WSL and beyond, while centering people, equity, and storytelling, perfectly complimented Lex’s values + experience in community organizing, event programming and creative direction.
Both being avid travelers and witnessing first-hand the harm of extractive tourism on locals, including their own Latine communities, Regenerative Retreats were the natural solution not only for fundraising towards ecosystem restoration projects, but for preserving culture and cultivating a new, more reciprocal way of travel.
As we celebrate the Spring Equinox, the season of fertility and growth, we welcome Andrea to our team and the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for Sea + Soil Collective! 🌞

For years, our community has asked how they can show up more meaningfully both at home and abroad in the places they feel drawn to – not just to surf or explore, but to build real relationship with the land and the people who care for it.
S+S Impact Travel is our response to that question.
And it takes shape through Regenerative Retreats: small gatherings where time in the water, cultural exchange, belonging, and community-led stewardship are woven together.
Each retreat is rooted in long-term projects identified and led by local partners, with a portion of every gathering reinvested into the work happening on the ground.
But just as important is how we show up.
Listening more than we speak.
Learning from local knowledge keepers.
Shared meals rooted in local tradition.
Working with the soil.
Travel not as consumption, but as relationship.

Today = 40 laps around the sun 🌞
What a privilege it is to grow older…especially in the times we’re surviving through.
The last few years have cracked me open in ways I never could have imagined. Grief, healing, community, purpose—sometimes all washed in with the same tide. And somehow, through it all, @sea.and.soil has been both my offering to the world and one of my greatest sources of medicine.
What began as a dream almost a decade ago — of surfers gathering not just for waves, but in reciprocity with the people and places who hold us — has since grown into something much more personal than I expected.
Sea + Soil has held me through loss.
Through chronic pain.
Through global tragedy.
Through the quiet work of becoming a future ancestor…one that mine at present might even be proud of.
And along the way, it has become a living, breathing organism — a collective of people of all ages and backgrounds who feel the ocean as a relative, believe that gathering is radical, and can braid laughter, tears, and stillness into an artful offering that vibrates with joy amongst the chaos.
I haven’t been sharing much here lately, my focus has been on sentience over screens.
But something new is coming.
Something I’ve been dreaming about since the very beginning of Sea + Soil. A deeper invitation into this work, this community, this way of traveling through life in reciprocity.
Turning 40 feels like stepping into a new chapter—
Less about proving. More about tending.
To the ocean.
To each other.
To the legacy we leave behind.
