⚡️⚡️⚡️Don’t Hide is out now⚡️⚡️⚡️
I’m so excited to share a collection of four new songs a year+ in the making. My deepest gratitude goes to @armsfullofronan who made it with me. His patience, curiosity and ears are interwoven in this music and it simply wouldn’t be as good with his input.
The urge to record these songs came as I was coming out of a tumultuous time in my life. They speak to two different times and, thinking about it now, integrating them into one release has been a healing process.
The Organ and the Blade I wrote back in Seattle. The title comes from a quote from Nayyirah Waheed, which I saw in passing and really stuck with me. Ronan breathed so much new life into the song.
The chorus of Where Is There Room came in a dream (or nightmare???). I woke up with it stuck in my head and the song built itself around it.
Better Make is a reminder to myself.
Useless Bay is named after a body of water on Whidbey Island. Useless I guess because it’s so shallow - the tidal shifts make the water creep up and down the entire length of the bay every day.
Thank you so much to @daniel.salka and @remymorritt who play on the record. And special thanks to @maxknouse and @daphnegale for their help early in the process.
