Most people talk about finding joy in their work. Hugh Brasher reframes it entirely. As CEO of the London Marathon Events, the most entered sporting event on the planet, Hugh doesn’t talk about what the job gives him. He talks about what it gives everyone else. That’s what Hugh builds for. Not personal fulfilment. Not legacy. Just those life changing moments. And it got us thinking, that’s the real measure of a great event. Not just the numbers, logistics and medals. But whether the people who showed up left as someone slightly different to who they arrived as. The joy happens when the impact is real. Episode one of Pioneers is out now. Give it a listen, subscribe and stay tuned for more. Link in bio ☝️

How do you actually get the right people on the bus? That’s what Sam put to Hugh Brasher, CEO of the London Marathon Events, one of the most respected operators in global running events in the first episode of our Pioneers Podcast. Hugh’s answer is one of the most practical things you’ll hear a leader say on building a team. He uses LME’s Group CFO, Jeanette Wong as the specific example of how he found someone of that calibre, gave her the runway to scale into her full potential, and built a team around her that now delivers some of the biggest events in the world. When Hugh started at LME the team was about 22. Today it’s about 160. Most leaders know the principle. Very few build for it. Episode 1 is live now. Full episode at the link in bio 🎙️ Pioneers is a new series of conversations with the people shaping the future of mass participation events. Sam sits down with the leaders, organisers and operators we’ve learned the most from. Make sure you subscribe to stay tuned for more. 🧑‍💻

The start of something really powerful. Sam turning up at Hugh’s house at 11pm to get the contract signed. Hugh let him in. Made him an omelette. They sat at the kitchen table until 3am. That night quietly became one of the building blocks of a partnership behind one of the most iconic events in the world. This got us thinking: -> Show up in person. Sam didn’t send another email. He got in the car. He made it happen. -> Lead with curiosity, not the agenda. They talked about the industry, about people, about ideas. Then the magic happened. New world records. New ballot record. A new era for marathon running. Which means no better time to launch Pioneers, our new interview series exploring what actually drives growth in the world’s best events. They got into: - What it actually takes to build a world class event from the ground up - How you keep a team curious when the stakes are high - The joy and life changing power behind it all - What event organisers should hyper focus on - The toughest moments Hugh has faced We’re super excited for this one, and we’ve got a lot more coming, so stay tuned. Last weekend at the London Marathon, barriers weren’t just broken. They were redefined. Nearly 60,000 finishers. Two athletes under the two-hour mark. At the same time, leaders across the endurance space gathered at Let’s Do This Live to talk about what’s next in our industry. Our Chief Marketing Officer, @kaitlinheck , joined a panel alongside leaders from @cem.event , @boulderthon and @runthroughuk to unpack how AI is reshaping the endurance and events industry. The takeaway wasn’t about replacement; it was about elevation. The operators, marketers, and creators who embrace AI aren’t just moving faster - they’re building smarter, more personalized, more impactful experiences. From how we market events to how we engage communities, the bar is being raised in real time. And just like the marathon itself, the pace isn’t slowing down. We’re proud to be working hand-in-hand with @letsdothis.com_ on the next generation of events.

LDT LIVE got its third outing last Thursday. It’s the event we’ve been building for the last couple of years. With each one we’ve learned a little more, tweaked the programming and tested new ways to deliver demos. The headlines and gasps were around AI. How event organizations were adopting and growing their businesses with it, driven by the agents we are building at Let’s Do This. Although the thing that stuck with me most was a reminder of why we started the event in the first place. When asked how the next generation of leaders can continue the legacy of their organizations, Alex Sawyer of Chicago Event Management encouraged the room to take their peers with them. To spend time together and be open about what you are working through and what keeps you up at night - as this is how we can move forward together. We’re seeing our agents enable these moments. They’re transforming how our partners work and what’s possible for participants, giving time back to organizers. Time once lost to operations is now spent with their team and community. Huge thanks to the brilliant room of event organizers, and inspiring and generous speakers; Kaitlin Heck, Alexa Squillaro, Jack Williams, Matt Hertel, Lucy Miller, Christopher Saunders, Alex Rose, Sam Browne, and Mary Wittenberg, for joining us at LDT LIVE, and making it an awesome space to connect and share ideas. Thanks for the shots Mr @philhillstudio

🚨 REMEMBER THIS WHEN RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON 🏃‍♀️ Comment “Browne” and we’ll DM you the full episode 📲 You’re going to feel tired. Your legs will go. Your pace will drop. Your mind will start negotiating. That’s not failure. That’s the marathon starting. Keep going. On Sunday, it’s not about pace. It’s about showing up. For every early morning. Every mile no one saw. Every moment you nearly quit… but didn’t. 26.2 miles doesn’t change who you are. It reveals it. See you at the start line 💪🙌
