Composed of producer Jordan Miller and vocalist Beccy Young - Chatemerged in 2023 after the duo discovered a shared love for pop music and a passion for collaboration. Drawing inspiration from pop icons including Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue and Madonna, as well as legendary electro duos such as Eurythmics, Pet Shop Boys and Yazoo. Chat craft a nostalgic yet fresh sound that pays homage to 80s hits produced by the likes of Stock, Aitken and Waterman and Trevor Horn.
Beccy, who has a background as an alt-folk singer-songwriter under the moniker ‘This Little Bird’, revels in the lighter, more joyous themes of Chat's music. This new venture allows her to embrace her inner pop diva and write songs about dancing and having fun. Jordan, a multi-instrumentalist and seasoned performer in bands including Vandebilt & Hyde & Beast, brings his extensive experience and production skills to the table. His upbringing - filled with stories of 80s clubbing from his dad - heavily influences Chat's nostalgic sound.
Since their inception, Chat have made significant waves in the northeast music scene. They were voted ‘Best Newcomer’ in SparkFM’s Local Music Awards, have received airplay on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, and SparkFM and performed at local festivals including Summer Streets and Stockton Calling. The duo also completed their first national tour during 2024, supporting Newcastle funk soul legends Smoove and Turrell on the first leg of their ‘Red Ellen’ album tour'.
