Ice cream has been a part of our (Christa and Katie) lives for 13 years, but it’s been a part of our extended family for decades.
These are vintage scoops collected by Christa’s Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Dennis during their weekends spent searching for vintage ice cream paraphernalia. The result was an insane collection of scoops. These are just some of them!
Aunt Bobbie had a good clear out before moving to Florida and gifted us her collection. We worked with our pals @412matt and @workerbird to create something with the scoops for our shop that honors both family and our love for vintage and pattern!

And so it begins. Every year as spring approaches we get antsy for fresh produce. Every year it starts with our humble friend Rhubarb, or as I call her, Rhubarbra!
Each year we try to purchase and process enough fruit (Yes, I know rhubarb is a vegetable) to get us through the current season, and into the next. We clean, cook, package, and freeze it in “batch sized” amounts, so it’s ready to use all year. That’s why our strawberry ice cream tastes so fresh, because we use the best local berries and preserve them at their peak!
Our fruit comes primarily from local PA farms. It keeps our carbon footprint low, and our money in the local economy. Plus, the flavor and quality that comes from a local grower just cannot be matched by factory farms.
So yeah, rhubarb. It’s the best.

We get a LOT of requests for donations and as a small biz, it’s tricky to navigate. So we created Scoops For Good - our way of centering donations on the orgs we love and want to support. We are keeping it queer, keeping it local and keeping it focused. We pick a flavor and donate $2/scoop of that flavor all month long.
This month we are donating to @garfieldgators_ys ! This organization has been around for decades and works with neighborhood kids to get them involved in youth sports. But anyone who’s been on a team or belonged to an organized group knows that it’s more than just games, it about building who you are and who you will become. We are proud to support them.
So as we say goodbye to April’s organization @assemblepgh (stay tuned for the total donation number!) we welcome in @garfieldgators_ys !
