Kerst kon voor mij niet beter beginnen dan met dit adembenemend kerstspel van Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam en Holland Baroque. Nooit hoorde ik zoveel kinderen zo geweldig meerstemmig zingen, onder begeleiding van een geweldig orkest als dit. De voorstelling raakten begin tot het einde. Een diepe buiging voor allen!
Muzikaal hart van Kerstspel vormen de prachtige arrangementen die barokpionier Ton Koopman maakte van kerstliederen als Nu syt wellecome en Wij komen van Oosten. Nederland en andere Noordwest-Europese landen kennen een heel eigen repertoire van kerst- en adventsliederen die deels uit de middeleeuwen stammen. Hoewel verboden tijdens de Reformatie, hebben ze dankzij hun artistieke kracht en sterke melodieën de historische stormen toch overleefd. Nu zijn ze te horen in dit betoverende theatrale concert, naar een concept van Caro Kindt.

🎶 This Sunday, @nationaleoperaballet perform the world premiere of @leonardevers ‘Atman!’, a collaboration with renowned Belgian writer @bartmoeyaert . Performed by mezzo-soprano @lizalozica or Isabel Pronk, with @kaat_plays_accordion .
🔑🎒🌳 The opera tells the story of Atman, a nine-year-old boy who has lost his way home. He has the key to his house, but no longer knows where home is! What begins as a simple ask for help, leads him into a series of encounters that playfully shift between everyday reality and a fairytale world.

Last month, 8th-grade pupils celebrated the finale of our Conducting Project, closing their Discover the Orchestra journey with a festive concert in Amare. Each class chose a young conductor who took the baton and led the orchestra through music by Mozart, Bizet, Tchaikovsky and Rossini, guided by conductor Leonard Evers and hosted by Eric Robillard.

The final day of the Calefax Reed Festival - and what a day it was! We had the honour to share the stage with… you! Many reed players (or pvc players 😉) joined us for the Play-in where @anne_maartjerl served us her piece “Rietjes” with conductor @leonardevers . Instruments were build of pvc, @diantoreedquintet premiered DNA, there were showcases by @vectorquintet and @woodwork.quintet , an instruments market and workshops by the Calefax musicians.
