Brazilian designer
@leolague has always been known for navigating the space between opposites. Born in southern Brazil, where verdant landscapes often meet the stark lines of industrial coal mines, his formative years instilled in him a fascination with contrasts based on the raw and refined, and the natural and man-made. And it is exactly this duality that forms the backbone of Lauge’s creative philosophy, reflected in his groundbreaking furniture which straddles the line between functional objects and sculptural artworks.
Following presentations in Milan and São Paulo earlier this year—the former during FuoriSalone as part of
@piloto_milano ’s exhibition, the latter in October at Residência Mário Masetti, an award-winning Brutalism house by Paulo Mendes da Rocha—Lague brought his work to this year’s Art Basel Miami as part of
@alcova.milano showcase. With his installation “Silver Dreams”, Lauge continues his exploration of contrasts, offering a poetic meditation on the intersections of permanence and flux, and tradition and innovation.
Yatzer recently caught up with the designer to talk about the installation, his creative practice, and his fascination with astronomy. Read the interview on Yatzer.com.
