It was indeed a well-spent birthday work trip to . It was such a happy moment to be able to share @myliberica.coffee at the @specialtycoffeeassociation community lounge with friends and fellow coffee people. New explorations of food flavour mapping, countless hellos and hugs, and definitely looking forward to clearing the @afloatcoffeeroaster booth so we can head home with empty luggage, teehee.
Thank you to my team for the lovely present. May is definitely a blessing-in-disguise kind of month. ♥️
_WOC BANGKOK
We’re finally flying out for our very first international Roaster Village at @worldofcoffeeasia - Bangkok! We are sincerely looking forward to connecting with the Thai coffee community and friends from across the globe—it’s a beautiful chance to share our passion and celebrate the craft together.
We’ve curated a menu featuring our latest favorites from Panama, Colombia, and @myliberica.coffee , available as both espresso and filter. This includes our Panama Barbara Geisha, which we’ll be serving in both Black & White.
On May 8th, you can find us at the SCA Community Lounge from 11:00 to 12:00 brewing our MyLiberica series. Afterward, our daily crew— @lengleng__loo , @_ruii._1 , @jimmyl_zb & @jackyy.chang will be joined by guest barista @jasonloo315 at our booth from 12:00 to 14:00.
It truly feels like a coffee reunion, especially as we gather to cheer on Malaysia’s Cup Tasters Champion, @c_towjin in the World Cup Tasters Championship.
📍 Find us at RV EAST, RV06 (Right next to our dear friends at Glyph).
See you soon, Bangkok!
Just keep walking, keep looking up and observe, call time, take a deep breath, phew, and keep sipping many cups of coffee.
Friendship, unlimited amount of coffee, pre-lim rounds, penang, great food, long lost reunion, wild Pokemon, I really miss everyone that I couldn’t connect promptly.
April’s vibe is amazing, can’t wait for May 🧚🏻✨🧏🏻♀️
Bits and pieces that matter
Some days drift slowly
some rush past us
Some feel full and rewarding
others, quietly demanding
In the passing of time,
we lose parts of who we were
and gather new pieces
we never knew we needed
Coffee, skies, flowers
People, friends, family
Afloat, submerge
And somehow—
it all matters
在乎你,在乎我,在乎此刻,在在乎真誠對待彼此的片刻
I am a person who cries easily, so sentimental and filled with emotions. I let my emotions flow at the right moment, and this is the time.
I’ve had quite a few pints of beer, and I’m typing this at a euphoric stage. Everyone kept telling me, “Ahh, it’s just one step, it’s so close.” However, I don’t have any regrets. Whether from the perspective of a team manager representing @malaysia_specialty_coffee , the owner of @afloatcoffeeroaster , or even as a mentor for Jacky, I believe we have given our best.
This journey has been a really long one. I’ve lost count of how many times we fought over the script, the concept, the fine-tuning of ideas. Sometimes, we even lost ourselves in the process. But in these past two weeks, we attuned ourselves and pulled everything together.
You know that feeling when you are surrounded by love and blessings from the people around you, and all you can feel is gratitude. Thank you for loving me, loving @jackyy.chang , loving @ryanliewwj , @jimmyl_zb@luke__1125 and loving us as a team.
Now, we want to bring this glory home, keep our chins high, and continue to push the boundaries.
I love you guys & I can’t wait to be home 🥹
This trip we had to put our phone down at most time - not replying work text or any text promptly because one hand holding kid and another hand holding our parent. I ought to be honest, this isn’t an easy one as we have to stay sane and calm with kid throwing tantrums or the long-queue of some places.
The bright side is, it doesn’t stop us from embracing the beauty of the place. The small towns that we strolled through, the tons of strawberries that we had, slurping-good ramen, and great coffee that caught us to further reflect on the type of coffee that we want to serve.
Honestly speaking, sitting in front of the bars that we went (MEL COFFEE omakase) & LAMP BAR got us thinking deeper on how we can further elevate the experience. Someone once told me, passion will be dead if we do not feed our tummy first, yet these professionals whom I met along the trip has taught me that regardless the scale of the business, treat everything with the utmost attention, a real craftsmanship will speak for itself.
Sometimes it’s good to let go and let loose despite there’s no gaining. Japan is like what I watched in GHIBLI movie, it’s magical and everything is possible. Can’t wait to be back.

/ Back is 80% broken / all time carrying baby and no hands for phone / feeling rather devastated by dealing with so much emotions / need to learn IKIGAI

From competitor, judge, and co-founder of Afloat to coach, wife, and mother—Leng Leng has navigated the coffee industry for over a decade. For her, these identities are not strictly separate but fluid roles exchanged naturally across different times and settings. In this marathon of multiple roles, she admits that being a mother remains the most challenging journey of all.
On the judging stage, she maintains unwavering stability to honor each competitor’s ten-minute story. Beyond just tasting coffee, she listens with her ears and uses her whole body to sense every emotion and detail the competitor shares.
As a coach, she finds balance among diverse personalities, even guiding home brewers with zero professional bar experience. She believes that as long as you have the heart to take that first step, your dreams can make you shine, no matter how difficult the process.
"All relationships in this world require a degree of coordination and adjustment". Whether as an owner, judge, or coach, reaching a shared consensus is the true path to the ideal finish line.
🎙️ 【Deep Interview Series 02】 This is the second chapter of our conversation with Leng Leng, co-founder of Afloat. We hope you find resonance in her story of balancing identities and the weight of dreams.
