Yesterday was May Day—and this morning, we’re carrying the celebration right into the Leila Day Spring Fair. 🌸
Today from 10am–2pm, our campus will be full of flower crowns, blooming gardens, animal visits, live music, creative movement, muddy hands, our maypole, and community coming together.
May Day holds many meanings for us. It’s a celebration of the earth—and a day rooted in community care and collective action. We’re proud to flip the script on the traditional Green Man and forgo the queen.
In the weeks leading up to May Day, each classroom adopted an “Herbal Mascot” you can spot around our yards.

Writing with our inaugural Earth Day Rock to Rick Bike Ride report! 🚲🌎
Team "Red-Winged Black Birds" clocked 105+ total miles of city biking terrain, consumed 10 bananas, 5 half bagels, 1 apple, completed 45 safety stops, and danced to 25 minutes of live music.
Shout out to all of the fresh-air-loving families who got decked out in ORANGE pride. You are the spirit and soul of Leila Day! 🧡
To the @rocktorockride organizers, what an experience you’ve created for families. You are phenomenal. We felt so safe riding in the streets, weaving through neighborhoods, and learning road rules. It was an exuberant day to remember!
To @kararox thanks for leading the 1-mile loop with your twinkle-toed students, you put the CHE(e)R in teacher!

How could we not share a jubilant slideshow on a day like this? The slightly warmer days of spring have officially arrived, and our East class has been making the most of every muddy, blooming moment. 🌼
Over the past week, we’ve been planting in our greenhouses, cooking up creations in our mud kitchens, and roaming the wilds of East Rock Park.
And this is just a hint of what’s to come… 👀
