Dug into my archives last night and ended up reminiscing about the amazing time I had living in Sudan back in 2019. It’s still one of my fondest memories for so many reasons - the food, the diving - but what really made the whole experience for me was the people and how genuine and kind they were.
It’s truly heartbreaking to see the Sudanese people suffering today. They’re some of the most selfless and genuine people I’ve ever come across, and there’s always been a special connection between our people, especially since so many of my family fled through Sudan during our civil war.
If you’re in or around London today, @elfadilel and @saroor.dj have organised a fundraiser party at @corsica.studios in partnership with @londonforsudan@gmascommunitykitchen@theafricacentre & @sudanesekitchen . There’ll be music, food and good people, all in the name of raising money for Sudan. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the AlGenaina Initiative, which provides food, healthcare and resources in some of the most conflict-affected regions.
It’s a daytime thing kicking off from 3pm and running into the evening, I’ll also be playing some tunes later on, but I’ll be down earlier having a dance and enjoying some of the food on offer. Would love to see as many of my people there.
