😍👔 Maybe this helps you understand why designing tie necklaces is addictive. Each is one-of-a-kind, using thrifted ties of all eras. Men’s tie fabrics are exquisite! 🔎 We sometimes start with a tie and then treasure hunt through our thousands of vintage brooches to find the perfect pairing. Or sometimes we start with a brooch and look for its tie match. Once the tie and brooch are married, we look for smaller secondary brooches or other embellishments to design the bottom of the tie. We’ve used lace, denim and other repurposed fabrics; buttons, crystals, pearls, chains, and letters to form messages. The final step is selecting a vintage necklace to put through the tie. These are removable and beautiful pieces that also can be worn alone. So you’re getting two accessories in one. You also can swap a chain of your own into the tie to adjust the length. We got the last special red purse, which you could only get in a package with a plush blanket, plus the popcorn and drink. Was it worth it? Not the cost. But dang we bought tickets for first show done could get one of those so, win 🙌 Our Peter only had 10 purses. 🤑 Surprise! Seeing yourself on screen from 8 years ago, at a business summit with some of the same amazing people who continue to support young entrepreneurs today, was 😮 wow ❤️🙏 Grateful to @shannonprocise for your heart-centric community building with Business Acceleration Network and for welcoming Ella to it — again! What a treat to see 5-year-old Ella talking about needing a “bank button” (likely meaning the app to take payments 😊) She started selling bead bracelets at age 5, always giving money from sales back to the same nonprofit we continue to support @thechildrenshungerproject Her business experience has evolved, to include her pastel paintings and now TieNecklaces.com — Repurposed Elegance. We’ve set up her booth at countless farmers markets, craft festivals and other fundraisers. Put in the hours and did the grind. Now we do select events and have her online store. 💵 Ella has expressed deep interest lately in learning more about finance, investing and real estate. And we met some great people at the summit willing to mentor and guide. 🚀🎬 We’ve seen two documentaries this week and highly recommend both. First, @spacewomanfilm documents the inspirational life story of Eileen Collins, the first woman to command a shuttle flight. She flew four shuttle missions, and was an Airforce test pilot — the most extreme kind, as they are pushing aircraft to their limits. The film documents her incredible journey, and perhaps the piece that jumped out the most was that at that time she was in the Air Force, people were not even sure women could fly like men. Kind of wild to look back and think of that now. I loved the Q&A with Eileen and getting to meet this amazing mom and pioneer. Ella’s Mom covered the space program as a journalist from here on Florida’s Space Coast and I remember Eileen’s return-to-flight mission in 2005 after Shuttle Columbia broke up on reentry in 2003. Our entire community and the space program held its breath… as documented in the film. We highly recommend checking out the link at the film’s IG account and website to see where it’s showing, it’s in theaters across the country right now. 🎥🍿 We also love @premiereoaks10 — the only family and independently owned movie theater in our area. It’s gorgeous and we had great food and love supporting movie theaters! P.S. we were excited to see that in our collection of vintage NASA mission pins, we have two from Eileen‘s flights.
