Painting the Past to Create a Better Future: Interview of Watercolor master Therese Ferguson.
In this video, iconic Eau Gallie Arts District figure Therese Ferguson reflects on the early days of the district, the Foosaner Art Museum, and its beloved Jazz Fridays. She shares the story behind the creation of her gallery, Highland Art Studios, located in the heart of EGAD, and humbly traces her evolution as a master watercolor artist. Therese also takes viewers inside the “Before 1955 Series,” a collaboration with the Brevard Watercolor Society that pairs historic black-and-white photographs with watercolor interpretations. The project inspired her to paint many of Brevard’s cultural landmarks, from Ballard Park and Annie the Dragon to the Oleander Hotel and the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse. In closing, she reflects on the transformation of EGAD and imagines a future where arts-supportive landlords, renewed cultural investment, and the return of a museum could spark a vibrant new chapter for the district.

This is our third month with a house full of new art (40+ pieces!), and we can boast about 16 pieces sold since October. Join us this Thursday, May 14th from 5 to 6.30 PM to meet the artists that submitted new art and also to meet other BCA artists. We want this second Thursday of the month to give artists a sense of community and an opportunity to meet fellow artists.

One of life's magical moments for sure, when creativity flows with the perfect frequency 🌟
Last night we bumped into Kristen Warren at Gleason Park. She and her music partners had gathered a crowd for a pop up with free styling and sketching but the park had no power and a storm was coming. Julio rushed home to get his jackery, and the show did happen for an hour of pure communion, before the pouring rain kicked us out.
The song theme ended up being 'a storm is coming' with choir lines of 'rain go away', 'I don't care if it rains, we're still gonna make it happen' and 'we're waiting on the sun'.
I can't help but see it as a metaphor for life, facing the storm and still creating beauty in the time we are given.
Rapper @wisneyf closed the improv with an impressive flow.

New install at Satellite Beach City Hall, just in time for their city council last night!
'Standing Tall' by June Long-Schuman welcomes visitors, staff and elected officials when you come in.
In the meeting room, a whole wall pays tribute to surfing, more particularly dawn patrol, with paintings by Jeff Buthker @jsbsurf framing a sunrise on the beach by Arlene Cook @arlenecookphotoartist . Across the room, beach scenes by Diane Larson @dlarsonpaints and Sandy Johnson @sandyjohnsonartist surround a baby turtle emerging from the sand by Mitch Gubnitsky. Lastly, "Rays of Hope" by Robbyn Spratt takes you bay side with fishermen bathed in sunset light.
