I was tested a lot this year.. every corner I’ve turned came with significant challenges. For me, that it what it means to be a successful Black Man in America. Don’t get me wrong, I know everyone goes through challenges. But here, in America, we, as black men, experience those same challenges with with a bit more aggression, a lot less compassion and a constant veil of inhumanity. People take our strength for granted, people act as though we have no feelings, we aren’t allowed to express emotion, we are reminded that we are nothing more than a worker and a pawn. The workspace, the legal system, the justice system, the education system, the welfare system, you name it, we are always used as an example when it comes to putting people in there place. We are rarely propped up. We are rarely celebrated. We are rarely appreciated for build all that we’ve built. But the minute one of us can be used as an example for negative discipline, our structure will pounce at the opportunity. If you don’t believe me, just open your eyes and you’ll see it.
Real men stand up.
