Today is Bandcamp Friday and I’ve got two new acoustic EPs out, exclusively on Bandcamp. The Vibromonk Sessions, Volumes I and II, were recorded in one sitting by Ehud Lazin at, appropriately, Vibromonk Studios in Queens, NY a few years ago. I’m donating all sales today to three organizations doing important work in Oregon: @pirc_oregon @irco_updates @ojrcenter Thanks for listening.

Played a few shows, saw a few shows, watched hoops, played hoops. Not my worst year. Hopefully only better ones ahead, though.

Hello. I have an announcement that is actually multiple announcements but I don’t want to make multiple posts so here they are. In February I’ll get with Eric Ambel and Andrew McKeag and Cat Popper and some other friends and get started on the Todd Snider covers record I wanted to make in 2018 before my own songs got in the way. I’ve got a couple of new songs of my own to record with Todd’s so we’ll do those, too. So that’ll be out at some point next year probably. What will definitely be out next year is the I’m the Ocean/Downtown split 10” with the aforementioned Eric Ambel. I would guess May or June for that. Lastly but of equal importance, I’m playing two shows in March with Cory Branan, as part of my ongoing “I only do gigs with pals” gradual retirement project. The gigs are: Saturday 3/14 in Portland at @mississippistudios Sunday 3/15 in Seattle at @tractortavern Tickets on sale now. Links where they always are. Okay that’s everything. Photos by @dadarria

We are donating an awesome Mini Chief in Oregon walnut to @portlandalanoclub ! We believe this is a great cause, and hope that you’ll participate in the raffle to assist them in their endeavors. @thunderroadguitarspdx has donated an amazing custom guitar and the whole package looks like a dream! Below are the details from Portland Alano Club: From Wednesday, November 26 through the end of Giving Tuesday (December 2nd), you can win a brand new Fender Custom Shop Mustang (valued at $6,000) from Thunder Road Guitars! And that’s not all! Greer Amps heard about the giveaway and generously offered to throw in a Greer Mini Chief amplifier (valued at $999)! Between now and the end of Giving Tuesday, each donation of $10 will count as one “digital raffle ticket” entry to win. The more you donate, the better chance to win! If you donate $10, you’ll receive one digital raffle ticket number via email; $100 will get you ten digital raffle ticket numbers, and so on. The winer will be notified and announced on social media Friday, December 5th.

Every year, Thunder Road Guitars donates a guitar to a cause that means everything to us — The Alano Club of Portland. This place is a cornerstone of our community and a big part of why Thunder Road Guitars PDX exists. We’re grateful, and we give back. This year, we went big: a Brand New Fender Custom Shop Mustang Heavy Relic in Competition Orange, valued at $6,000. And it could be yours. Donate to the Alano Club of Portland through the Willamette Week Give!Guide between Nov 26 – Dec 2, and you’ll be entered to win this killer guitar. Support a life-changing organization, and maybe take home a dream instrument. ❤️🎸 #ThunderRoadGuitarsPDX #AlanoClubOfPortland #GiveGuide #FenderCustomShop #Mustang #PortlandCommunity #GiveBack @portlandalanoclub @giveguide @willametteweek

NEW GLUE: Kasey Anderson (@kaseyeanderson ) @leasdef Kasey Anderson is a gradually retiring songwriter whose songs you’d best know as covered by other artists (Counting Crows’ cover of “Like Teenage Gravity,” for instance). His most recent album, To the Places We Lived (2024), was his self-proclaimed last album but no one believes that, not even Kasey. It’s just the last album he’ll do press and tour for, this interview notwithstanding. Kasey also happens to be the Executive Director of the Alano Club of Portland, the oldest and largest non-clinical substance use and mental health recovery center in the United States. He has not, as yet, announced his gradual retirement from that job. Read the full interview and others on my LUKELIKESGLUE substack. Link in bio and stories.

To the Places We Lived (the Eric Ambel version) was released a year ago (October 4, 2024). I called the album my retirement record because it was — is — the last album for which I’ll do any sort of press/promo/tour cycle. The “release show” was a joint gig with dear friends (two of whom also generously contributed to the record’s liner notes). We’ll do a similar such show this November, a benefit for the Alano Club. I wrote TTPWL to finish a conversation I started with Nowhere Nights, and picked up again with Let the Bloody Moon Rise. I wanted to get those characters “home,” as it were. I also wanted to involve as many friends as I could in the making of the record and I’m grateful so many wanted to be part of it. Both Eric Ambel and Kurt Bloch’s versions are streaming, or you can get them together on vinyl as a double LP. Eric and I got together last summer to record those Neil Young covers (out next year) and we’ll get back together in a few months at CTS and see what happens. Thanks for listening.
